16th.

No chance of ever getting back in SL (in my opinion)

Which could explain our seemingly lack of ambition in recruitment, perhaps the club have the same opinion.

It is plain that we have to protect and improve our ratings as we go and it may cost money. Winning the

Championship may be the aim of a Championship clubs but that will not guarantee SL entry.

Clubs with lower gradings than us will have to decide whether they actually want, or can afford, SL rugby. If the answer is 'no' then they can aim to pay and pick up the best players to please their public.

Clubs wanting SL will have to have big money spent on meeting and surpassing IMG criteria, but pick a team that plays OK but probably won't win the league.

It will be a hotch-potch imo with a great deal of disappointment for speccies with different views.

The RFL/SL might at least limit non SL sides to part time to bring the standards to a uniform level to avoid silly score lines and a very wide gap between top and bottom..

TBH SL doesn't fill me with a great deal of satisfaction any more and it looks like becoming a even more repetitive programme. I would rather see my side just playing entertaining rugby, to hell with SL.

16th considering our last 5 years is generous.

Never know SL may become a 16 place division like the NRL was for many years if this IMG bullshit works then we’d be in 🤣

Help me here, am I reading this right - 2025 SL teams will be decided by the top 12 teams on grading - 7 teams with A grades cannot be relegated .

so is that possible that more than one team could be promoted if their grade is better than a current SL team regardless of where they finish in SL ?

Just read it again and that appears to be correct, I assume of course points will change depending on 2024 results

also London going down regardless !

You can bet your bottom dollar if LB survive 2024 they will get regraded as a category A club. It suits expansion, and I can't believe they scored so low. The set up at Wimbledon is really good, they have a massive catchment area for both fans and players. If they get more bums on seats they would rise up the assessment table rapidly.

@pauliewalnuts

totally agree, nice ground, big catchment area - so assume they are let down on playing performance and crowds.

but what a sham this is - I thought it would be the bottom team of SL that could be replaced by top team of championship if their grading was better

7 teams exempt from relegation, reminds me of Huddersfield finishing bottom years in a row and not getting relegated lower teams are better off breaking away and forming the northern football union, may attract some welsh clubs this time !

totally dissilusioned with the rfl, bunch of tossers

Yes. So in theory, Toulouse, Wakefield and Bradford could all go up and replace (say) Castleford, London and Leigh.

It goes to show what a mess they must be in financially. While the set up at Wimbledon is good, they'll have scored poorly due to the lack of crowds, a low percentage of capacity taken up, and their social media etc appears to be poor.

London in SL next season is now completely irrelevant. They'll be going down regardless.

In fairness the SM issue is a easy fix, especially being based in London. Bums on seats should increase now in SL, more away fans will be in attendance. Even if they attract 3000, that is a third of the stadium, whereas we need 4.8k-ish to fill a third of Naughton Park. We are hampered by having a 14k seater stadium.

That's probably it for me with RL now, I think I will go and watch Widnes FV instead once their new little ground is built. What's the point in playing if there's nothing at stake on the field.

I look forward to the Grade A clubs thrashing out some classic games on the box, with all the expansion teams, it'll be great!

I've always been against being promoted/ relegated based on an off field decision. If striving to win and earning merit on the pitch doesn't matter, then sport is pointless.

Someone in an office has already decided that London and Cas will be binned off regardless of what happens on the  pitch next season.
