Widnes Vikings fans getting ready for their return to the dcbl Stadium, Halton for Sundays clash against Whitehaven are being urged to add a no symptom Covid-19 test to their pre and post-match routine.

As we see the long awaited return of crowds to the dcbl Stadium, we are asking that all supporters take part in no symptom Covid-19 testing.

Halton Borough Council and Widnes Vikings advise spectators not to attend the match if they are self-isolating for any of these reasons;

• If you or anyone in your household has recently returned from any country on the red or amber travel list in the last 10 days.
• If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 (a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste).
• Someone in your household has symptoms or has tested positive for COVID-19 If you’ve tested positive for COVID-19.
• If you’ve been told you’ve been in contact with someone who tested positive by NHS Test and Trace or the NHS COVID-19 app.

Prior to the match, all spectators, are requested to take a no symptom Covid-19 test, test kits can be ordered online or over the phone, or you can get help to take a test at one the Councils community testing Centres. For more information please click the link below.

Halton Borough Council and Widnes Vikings recommend that everyone should take a regular test to make sure you’re not potentially spreading the virus without knowing. We are encouraging anyone attending any Widnes Vikings fixture to take a test the day before the game, and again two and five days after the match, to ensure you continue to be symptom free.

COVID-19 Lateral Flow testing kits will be given out to fans at the end of the game on Sunday, and all supporters are requested to test at home 2 days after the match (Tuesday 25th May) and 5 days after the match (Friday 28th May).

Councillor Marie Wright, Executive Board Member for Health and Wellbeing, said: “Our fans have had to cheer the Club on from their sofas for the start of the season, and we know how much the match day experience means to not only the fans but the players too.

“It is fantastic that finally some fans will be able to watch our team from their seats inside the Stadium and get behind the players.

“Thanks to the community of Halton for following the rules and being vaccinated when they are able to, our infection rates in Halton are now low which is great news but we need to keep them that way.

“That is why we are asking all Widnes Viking fans who are attending match days at the dcbl Stadium to take part in regular lateral flow testing to help identify those who may have Covid-19 but are not showing symptoms.”
