Finnegan's selection problems

He will have many hard selection decisions to make before too long, for instance when Owens is fit again how can Roby be dropped after the way he has played thus far this season?

What do you all think? Should Owens automatically get his place back or ought he have to wait for Roby to lose form?

Roby should retain his place ...full stop, there is no point in having "competition" for places if those places are automatically given back to returning players despite the good performance of the current incumbents

Owens will be straight back in you always select your best players and Qwens is better. Roby has done a job and a decent one at that. Lets not get carried away Jack was injured he has not lost his form that is the difference.

What Pascal has seen so far I am very impressed with Roby. In my opinion should keep his place as Jack Owens hardly a Billy Slater.

Just like fans where saying that Edge should of kept his place but Tyrer smashed it last night, me thinks people get carried away with a few wins especially them French fuckers 😊 .

I think Roby should keep his place, he has been excellent, but I suspect he won't given Finnigan's leadership style.

Owens will go straight back in.  And rightly so, he's earned his strips to get picked when fit, Roby is still earning his.

Jack's influence is more than being a full back. The team will need both to be match fit and both will have to be preferred when its appropriate, that's what any coach would do to keep his side on form.

I suspect that Jack has played when carrying minor injuries, as most players do. Our strength this year is that we don't have to do that but the players have to trust the coach to give them a shot.

When fit , Jack should come straight back in as he is the first choice FB . Thats how sport works you pick your best players .

He will know that he has to perform as we all seen Roby is  a more than capable replacement and provides genuine competition for the position.

Finnegan should pick what he considers to be his best team. Roby has played well but, in my view, surely Jack Owens must be first choice at full back. It is good that Finnegan has a choice to make.

Maybe a little controversial, but I would be minded to give some players who haven't had so many minutes more game time against Leigh, for me we need to keep the league wins going and finish as highly as possible: been 6 years since we had a good league season 😕

In terms of Owens, as the club captain I presume he will be straight back in when fit, but Roby has shown he is more than capable. Also injuries (God forbid) may strike and there may be a possibility of Owens playing at HB with Roby still at FB.

Won't do Jack any harm to realise that he has serious competition for his place. I'm sure he is well aware of how well Roby has played and what he will have to do if he gets his place back and wants to keep it.

A difficult one for Finnegan. There is a long-term rivalry with Leigh and I am sure all Widnes fans would love us to turn Leigh over in the Cup again. On the other hand, realistically just how likely are we to beat them in their current form and with the squad they have? Having said that I seem to recollect similar predictions in the 1895 Cup semi final a few years back!

I would like to see Nzoungou given a run out if he is fully fit.

We have got a full week after we play Leigh until we play Barrow at home, let's go and beat them. We are on a run and confidence/team spirit is high, it would  be great to keep the momentum going.  Leigh have a small squad and got soundly beaten by Featherstone a couple of weeks ago. They have a good starting 13 but for me it's a 50/50 game.

I think we should put out our strongest side against Leigh, when you are in form and people are talking about you it’s good to keep winning. Doubt we’ll go far in the cup but a home game against a super league side will bring in a few quid and if we are on tv more better options for a sponsorship deal
