Geography plays a big part in availability of players in a part time team.
There are two clubs west of the Pennines iirc, us and Swinton, and its a big ask for any player working and living east of the hills to shuttle back and forth several times a week for training. Our local lads who have played for Yorkshire clubs have found it a bit of a bind and have said as much.
Of course the Cumbrian clubs are even worse off but seem to have local job availability which helps.
Our present player set look to be fitting together well and Gilmore/Owens/Fozzard/Johnstone are starting to work together.
We are a good year behind Fev etc but its not yet out of reach. We may well need additional loanees but the Saints players in Swinton colours didn't stand as being superior tbh !
Correct, if you recall we nearly beat saints reserves at the start of the season
We need an injury free run and we will climb the table !
I personally think we are having a decent season so far and are well placed to get into playoffs and as we get get nearer we would look to have some money in the kitty to bring in some support at the end of the regular seaso - providing the right support is available at the right time of course!
@steve Were doing quite well considering, a bit more composure and we would have beaten both Toulouse and Bradford and would have been sitting on 18 points in 3rd.
I totally agree that we are in a good place at the moment, i think if we can keep a virtually fit squad there should be no reason why we can not make the play offs
Reading most of the messages on the forum board it astounds me of how much moaning and groaning there is regarding the coach, the squad, loan signings, matchday team, the club in general. We all need to understand we are not the club we used to be like we were in the 70's and 80's we don't have the same fan base we had then were we averaged 8000 a gate, you need to come in the real world that we are just a small town club
Just stumbled across this absolute corker!

Here's another Capey 😎
Before anyone says it was only Swinton they have beaten Bradford & Batley this season, we didn't.
....and Toulouse!!
