This Sunday at 1pm, before the main event, the 'New Academy' or as it's called The Widnes Vikings Development Squad take on Oldham on the I-Pitch, and play them in a return fixture the following Wednesday.
Is this the 'from small acorns'' moment for the Club? Let's hope so. The squad is coached by Steve Tyrer, and I'd like to think the Club will announce that it will be open to all spectators as well as parents.
Up The Young Vikings!

AC's raw enthusiasm should appeal to youngsters and, as far as we can tell, it is genuine! It is certainly a change from the 'professional' twaddle that we have had in the past.
My instinct is to continue to back the WVIPS + ST's as far as I can and that goes for many, I know.
Takes me back to Churchill's plea to the Yanks 'Give us the tools and we will finish the job!' where we are the ones with the tools!
I can't for the life of me see any wealthy stranger throwing money at us any time soon!!
Only saw the u16s game, (but fixtures had took place all morning with various age groups) a real competitive game, which Widnes won 24-12, some really bright prospects to nurture.

I noticed quite a few leaving at around 2.45 pm which is a shame.
