- Total rugby saying that we are in talks with him for next season.
We definitely need a third half back in the squad. So if true it is definitely a positive move. However I would have preferred one that attacks the line & runs angles rather than mainly a kicker of the ball. Having said that there do not seem to be that many about that spring to mind that are north west based. We seem to rule out a lower level league Aussie or New Zealander player which could be another option.
There's talk of him going on loan to Featherstone for the remainder of the season.Pity we can't get him now but it's all in next year's budget I assume.
Personally think this is a poor move, Lyons and Gilmore playing well and Patton a liability, there's a reason clubs move him on quickly and hope we don't take the risk.
Much rather invest in a good centre or 2nd row.
@geoffw would be a big cost to the club to do that in are current condition, I assume they’d be the highest paid with us also having to help sort out a house etc… I think will have a good strong squad next year with the current retentions and rumoured signings things are starting to look good.
The concern is always either Lyons or Gilmore getting injured. What would we do ? Not sure about this baggage he is supposed to carry around, either.Internet gossip.
Must admit he has been 'almost there' with so many clubs and then fallen out of favour, always makes me doubt!!! Just have to hope that AC and his lads know the reasons.
He seems to be a player that spits his dummy out in games when things aren't going his way, not sure that fits in with Coleman's team ethics.
As an aside, has anybody else heard we've signed Jake Maizen for next year?
Quality footballer. There's not many better passers of the ball in the game, and his kicking game, both from hand, and the tee is not too shy either, but......
On the debit side, he's gobby, and twice been sin-binned for it this term.
According to a report I read, he's heading for NP next year, but via POR meantime, and...............
Of course, as has been detailed on another thread on here, the dosh side at Fev has been in question recently.
Checked our 'site a few mins ago, and there's nowt on it yet about this subject, but............
As I've said many times, "If you want loyalty, buy a dog!"
Spelly.

We have versatility in the squad now, with several players able to switch positions (mainly enabled by the return of Roby & Joe Edge/Dixon able to play FB). Why tie up money on DP, that could be spent elsewhere.
