Current 17 as it stands?

Difficult to understand this one. He played out of position for us and never let us down and, in my opinion, could have delivered at half-back; and at just 21, is a better prospect than Lyons. Clearly Finnegan doesn’t rate him. Good luck to him at Swinton. My guess is that if he has ambition, he will progress in the game.

He wasn't part of the original released list so you would assume some discussions have taken place. Good on him though in going, hopefully for regular rugby. He was going to be a backup option here if he stayed so think it's a good move for him.

Probably get shot down for this, but I’m not impressed with our recruitment/retention one bit. We’ve signed 11 new players and only 2 of them rectify our problems of 2021. Can’t believe we’ll be going into a season with the intention of playing players out of position.

I think the squad as a whole is a lot more Championship hardened. Certainly after the starting 13 there will be alot of players with more than just a handful of appearances as we had this year.

Can't see the huge issue with Kenny at prop as will be the case. We do need one prop addition in my view but comfortable with there being more depth to work with at it stands at present.

We do seem to have a lot of back rowers. Putting Kenny's move to the front row aside I wonder if we may be expecting to have some of our options (probably Wilde, maybe Grady) not always available due to work commitments.

Think it is a better squad than last year, assuming baker is the 5th prop and smith returns to the halves with Lyons and else as back up

not heard if Hulme  has resigned but with fozzard and the Oldham signings we have plenty of hooker cover

await fixtures and st info with interest

5 props is not enough, you need four for each game and 2/3 bound to be suspended or injured knowing our luck. We need at least two more, if not 3. That aside, happy with the squad.

Reading that an NRL prop, 25 year-old Anton Iaria from Penrith Panthers, has been offered to Championship clubs and Barrow are showing an interest. I wonder whether we have looked at him. Played just 6 games for Penrith in 2021 coming off the bench.

Might like isolation and loneliness! Sounds like a good fit for us though. Wait and see what Friday brings.

There must be a few of these guys around, not sure if he is any good, but he might be, as will a few others. Not clear how likely we are to sign any more props from UK based clubs and I know there is plenty of time before the season starts, but the sooner the squad is put together the sooner we can prepare!

Considering Finngan came through the Penrith season, surely we must be in within a chance. Fundamentally, how can you go from playing 6 games for the best team in the NRL this year to then potentially playing for Barrow Raidees in freezing, cold England, surely you wouldn’t give up on your NRL aspirations that easy?

It's 6 games for the Penrith NSW Cup side in 2021. Not NRL.

He's signed for Barrow. It's very difficult to get overseas players now due to the work permit rules relating to Brexit. Whereas players could previously come over on European passports, the only way they can do it now is if they've played a % of international games or a % of first-grade NRL games, which makes it very unlikely for them to come to Championship.

I imagine this guy must have a British passport somewhere along the line.

Has Mitcb Clark found a berth yet?

Mitch Clark would be so good, think he would cap this squad off perfectly

lets  face it, cant be anywhere near as bad as last year. one of the worst seasons that most of us from the golden generation who are now in our 50s or 60s have witnessed.

I think there were quite a few worse seasons than last - we do like to exaggerate
