@sunny Just going by the link provided by James in the first post of this thread Did you not read it? That's what we are talking about.

I had read the link, sinbad, on reflection was hasty in my response. Apologies. mea culpa.

Do still believe that at times the support for our club is underrated.

Way things are going with the scamdemic the Council will no doubt be grabbing another chance to look 'cautious' and to hell with the club. I was planning to get a season ticket but I doubt I will now because I don't trust either the government or the Council not to overreact, for example by demanding covid passes. With luck my action won't penalise the club because if I'm wrong I shall still attend and just end up paying more. But I lost a packet season before last (I let them keep it, not that they actually asked my permission) and don't want to risk that again. Will the club, or the fans, move a muscle to defend themselves against looming restrictions? I doubt it - that would require a testicular transplant.

@macc-viking

ok go with that if you want, I have bought 2 ST again, but can probably only make half the games - call me stupid if you like, but I see it as supporting my club, giving them money when the turnstiles are closed

Covid passes can be attained by submission of a negative LF test. You don't really have to actually take the test, just submit the QR code and a phantom negative result. In fact, hilariously, you don't need an actual kit or test. There is no validation on the gov.uk website so you can submit any number you like and a negative result and you will get a Covid pass.

I'm triple jabbed but the process is so incompetent you may as well just play the game.

Looking at the latest covid news, it’s very likely that “passports” will be need for next months testimonial match.

That’ll be bad news for Danny as IMHO it’ll affect the attendance figures.

Obviously this won’t happen but he would be better off having the Batley game played as an ordinary friendly and some sort of post season event played for his testimonial instead.

Yes, maybe against one of the minor World Cup nations. I'm sure most of those would like a 'warm-up' before the competition starts.

COVID passports are needed for 10000 plus, Danny has been super for the club but doubt he would pull in that attendance for a game against batley

agree with the World Cup warmer idea

Its 5000 plus Barrow FC reduced there capacity to 4999 for FA cup tie to avoid covid passports.

It's 10,000 for outdoor seated venues, I'm guessing Barrow has terracing? What I think the poster was saying is come January they could have tougher restrictions in place that could affect Danny's testimonial, hopefully not but time will tell.

Saw some stats earlier today on crowds, which were quite pertinent especially with season tickets on sale this week.

https://widnesrugby.com/blogs/crowds-for-concern/

Big challenge for club and fans alike to ensure Widnes can be a big club at Championship level, in terms of fanbase, performance, attracting players and more.

There is a global pandemic on currently

Just a thought

...or fans could get jabbed, do tests PROPERLY, register for a pass and actually help reduce the effect of Covid-19. Just a thought...
