Well with rumours of terrestrial tv sniffing for some SL games – BBC looking at 10 per season, maybe they would take in championship as well ?

With the exception of Cup Finals, Live Rugby League on terrestrial TV has been an absolute disaster in the past.

There's no incentive to pay £20+ when you can watch at home for next to nowt.

Why does the sport have to chop and change all the time?

we see enough of the same SL games every few weeks already never mind cutting the SL down.

Losing faith with this sport.

This would seal our fate for the future. No promotion next year and the year after, assuming we qualify for the 10 team championship, we will be up against 4 clubs with recent Super League experience.

Apparently a proposal is on the table for 14 teams in SL next year with 4 of them relegated at the season’s end to join the top 6 championship teams, making up a Super League of 10 teams and a Championship of 10 teams in 2023.Top six is our goal for 2022, should this come to pass.

Just so I am clear, why wouldn't top ONE be the goal?

It would be a total disaster if we couldn't finish 6th in a league where Fev and Toulouse were gone and Leigh had not come back in.

So realistically we need to recruit well and be aiming higher.

At least 6th, the higher the better. Not that it would make much difference anyway because there would be no promotion.

To be fair, we probably wouldn't have been in line for promotion next year because we would still have been behind the one of Featherstone or Toulouse who lost the final and then Leigh if they came down.

As it is, there can be no excuses for a mediocre season next year.

Get into the Second League of Ten if that goes ahead and then build from there.

agree there, but RL needs stability , which it probably had back in 70/80/90 s

drastic surgery is needed and control back to one body

i am not sure how the14 teams in SL is - will it be top 2from championship to join ( or final 2 in playoff final) and no relegation

which leaves a championship of 12 and league one of 10?
and then next season top 6 f championship remain in that division with bottom 4 of SL joining them - so effectively the top 6 of championship are playing to retain their place in that division

and the rest ?

Is all this just rumour or has some announcement been made? I thought that SL had confirmed only recently that there would be relegation this year.

It's just a proposal at the moment.I can't believe any SL club would go for it though, apart from Leigh. An almost 1 in 3 chance of relegation next year.

Well, if you finish outside the top six, you effectively get relegated.

Which makes this year’s recruitment all the more important.

Have to get it right

Yep, the current back line is the right material for a top six finish next year but the forward pack isn’t. We need to bring in several good forwards.
