Between our group of people we would have got 12 pints.

But just crazy that you could not get served so lots of revenue lost

Zero pints purchased due to vast queues

I do sometimes wonder what runs through the minds of people making decisions about which bars open

They should pour 3/4s of the drinks before half-time and line them up on the back of the bar, the pour the last quarter in to serve it and give it some fizz! Not rocket science!

Regardless of how many pints, pies or mars bars you buy, it wont make any difference to the clubs revenue.

Probably hired the minimum number of bar staff to save money which in turn lost them money.

@primrose-viking Widnes Vikings don't own the stadium and also pay very little in the way of rent to the council, why should they make any money on the sale of refreshments?

@the-ghost-of-ethel ok

I get that

So its the councils fault for total mismanagement of the bars

Im ok with that

Vote independant in the may elections

As we left after the game via the main entrance, there was a big table loaded with hot pies and sausage rolls from which we were instructed to help ourselves.

The weather being so cold my meat & potato pie was very welcome indeed....

Presumably the Council paid for them?

@sunny that is because not enough staff were on to serve all the people who wanted pints or refreshments or food.

I did make 4 attempts to purchase but the queues were taking 20 minutes.

Im not prepared to wait that long and miss half of the game

Next home game i will bring my own food and alcohol

Not sat in the North Stand for a while and was surprised at the way the concourse was...hopefully a 1st game of the season with a decent crowd teething problem...

No it won’t Ethel, but the council support the club and better facilities and service helps everyone. There were a lot of new fans in the queue near us today and one of the memories they took away was of the awful service and choice. Food and drink is a big part of the match day experience!

Yeah, the queue's were bad in the North stand, not seen it like that for some time. Felt sorry for the lady serving me as she was clearly trying to get through the queue as quickly as possible but she said they were short staffed (whether that was intentional by the Council or unavoidable i don't know?). Tried to go midway through the first half to get served quicker but still took 15 mins.

It is the clubs duty as tenants to complain to HBC about the pathetic service they provide.

Likewise, there is a chance for HBC to cash in on a market that will reduce Council deficits!
