Sorry for my ignorance, but the salary cap needs some explaining to me and a few others i feel. i was always under the impression it was based upon half of you income from all sources, but seeing the great divide between the two top teams in our league and the rest of us with Bradford being the latest team now realising the problems we all seem to have below the top two it seems that i am wrong. Salary cap for me was brought in to make everything a level playing field with each team ensuring they increase their revenue in order to spend more: am i not correct. Sugar daddies were not part of the equation and were not supposed to throw millions at their club therefore not a level playing field.

Following Fev's signing of the "Toulouse Two" I asked a journo I know, the very same question, and the answer was.............

"The cap in the Championship is the same as in SL, so basically, if you've got it, you can spend it!"

Kheirella, and Ford won't come cheap, as they were full time footballers on the other side of La Manche, but..................

The "big boys" at both Fev, and Leythers, are not short of a bob or two, and they're obviously going full tilt, and all guns blazing, to be dining at the top table next term.

Is it fair? Poss not, but if a mega rich person offered to come in at the Lions, I for one would say "Yes please!" And I'd be very surprised if I was alone in that train of thought.

Mac's Mob v Lam's Lot in the MPG game? I can't see past it to be honest!

Spelly.

I assume it was fine when we had SOC pumping money in 2008-2011 to get us back to Super League though? Likewise, it would be fine if we found a sugar daddy of our own now.

The salary cap is too high in Championship in my opinion, having initially been changed due to the Super 8s system, BUT it is like that to give the promoted team the best shot at staying up in Super League the following season.

It wasn't fine at all, I was never comfortable with being catapulted into SL from fifth position on the table. In fact it was embarrassing.Feathrstone were far and away the best team and trounced us.

James I was at the York game after we got into SL and still remember SOC saying he would spend the full cap if our attendances improved to 7500. They never and neither did he. In the Championship prior to getting in with the back door method I don’t remember him spending more than we had as our attendances we’re not that bad.

Unless you went back to Licensing (no thank you) or the NFP style season in the early 2000s which finished in July to give the chance for recruitment earlier, I don't think you've got much choice than to have a high Salary Cap in the Championship if you want to keep Promotion and Relegation.

On SOC, never felt he really went for it team wise from 2009-11.

Wonder if things would have been different if we had assembled a stronger team in 2010/11 and gone up with momentum like in 2001? I think they would.

Still think buying into WV was a vanity thing only for him & his family. Unfortunately, the money disappeared quicker than Lord Lucan. He was only ever interested in beloved Liverpool FC

Think it's mark Campbell isn't it? Maybe assisted with some other money man.

It wasn't a vanity thing - more of a case of it opened some doors to further prosperity.

Business men are just that, business men. Who knows what machinations go on in other clubs?

There aren't many money-men who throw it away and there is usually a pay-back somewhere in the deal.

Beaumont doesn’t seem to have got much back for all the money he’s put into Leigh over the years.
