Calum O'Neill

The club have announced that Calum has left to pursue interests outside the sport. Good luck to him for the future.

I hope the club are looking to bring in another prop to replace him in the squad. Is Dan Norman getting any games at St Helens. Maybe a loan?

Could be. Thought he had some potential but can’t blame anyone for choosing an alternative career. They don’t get paid fortunes at this level and injuries are always on the cards.

Think you'll probably find that the departure of O'Neill is what's created the space to bring Lewis Hulme in.

Could be a combination of a few things.

The injury wont have helped him, and possibly his confidence.

He is probably 7th or 8th choice at prop at the minute, so wont get much game time and, with the lack of reserve/academy games, he might not play for over a year or so, maybe he wants to just be playing.

Finally, as others have said, they don't earn a great deal so maybe focussing on a career outside of the game is the best for him long term.

Whatever the reason it's been a pleasure to watch him, especially his debut try.

Good luck for the future.

We need to get some forwards in on loan, O'Neil, Doro and Robson gone must give us some space. Best of luck, hope he stays involved in the amateur game.

Correct, we haven't, but he's still 7th or 8th choice behind, in no particular order, Cook, Clough, Farnworth, Tilleke, Baker, Grady and possibly Lawton to play at prop.
