Sadly Brian Lockwood has died aged 78. He played 53 games for Widnes at the end of his career from January 1981 to February 1983. He played in the 1981 & 1982 Challenge Cup finals & the 1982 replay in Widnes colours.

A very classy player who gave me & I am sure many more of our older Widnes RL fans great memories.

RIP Brian.

Sad news.He came to Widnes as a veteran and was considering retirement but Doug signed him and he helped us to a Wembley win as underdogs.

I remember Brian.  I didn't realise he was that old when he came to Widnes, but his level of play defied the myths about age.  Hard as nails, a tough tackler and strong runner.  RIP Brian.
