He has been released by Leigh & seems to be still unattached. We have 4 true props signed up with Baker rumoured to be playing there next season. Most of us would like 2 experienced old heads in that position. However it seems they do not appear to be out  there in our area.

He is 30 next week & experienced. He is 6 ft 1 inch & 16.5 stones. He played for us for 8 years or so & shone more in the championship than SL which he played last season for Leigh. On paper he fits the bill &  he is well acquainted with our set up.

Personally if he wants to revert to part time & wants to come back on reasonable terms, &  those are the big questions, I would  be reasonably happy for us to sign him up.

Would others be happy for him to rejoin us as a 5th true prop?

Absolutely would bring him back.

See the Twins have stayed with Newcastle incidentally.

Would depend on his mind set and attitude tbh. If he resents not being FT and is just signing up for an easy paypacket then, no. Most of our signings are PT already so they are just looking to play good rugby and anything that doesn't fit that picture is better somewhere else.

Don't know him so it depends on what Phil and Simon think.

Don’t think we’re in a position to turn down prop forwards!

No thanks, we've had more than enough south stand players the last few years.I still can't forget the time he allowed Sims to use him as a doormat at Warrington.

He'd be a sensible addition.

I notice from the latest club twitter video that Dec Baker is in it. Imagine he has been signed as he was training with the squad at the end of last year.

Another young prop who came through at the club.

Has Baker being playing amateur like /with Hulme?

With Gerrard, is he the most aggressive in the world? No.

Is he a player who came through at Widnes and has made over 100 SL appearances, with the experience to be good at this level? I think if the terms are right we have to go for it.

If he seemed keen and the deal was right then why not, unless the Club are waiting to announce the modern day equivalents of Bill Ramsey or Brian Lockwood (if only!)

So many short memories, some folk.

Gerrard did nothing of note when he was here, he's done nothing of note, since he left. Leigh have come down, and he's been released. No takers? I wonder why?

Keep well clear of Gerrard.

Paulie xx

Exactly PW. But hey, he's a prop so naturally he's got to be signed no matter what.
