Ok LL but you did have the benefit throughout the season of 5 SL dr players which would have helped with regard to the playoff game we had a player who was going to fev next season, played for us in the game and was nowhere to be seen, his name escapes me
Jon Grayshon.
He had a shocker that night I remember.
So you presumably know who paid his wages, or whether they were met totally by Leeds? Any saving would benefit Fev. I’m not accusing but just pointing out that from operations like that you can give out mixed messages.
I replied to this yesterday but for some reason the post never came through. I have no idea what the arrangement was, but if you think any of the Operational Rules were broken, you should contact the RFL.
In any case, we're getting away from the original point of discussion, which was whether the lack of DR will severely impact Fev in 2021.

Yes it would have helped, as it would for all the teams that used it. To those who say DR was a bad system, I don't disagree at all. Most Fev fans are not at all disappointed that it's gone in 2021, I just don't think it was the big difference-maker that a lot of opposing fans thought it was.
Not really sure how we ended up here ?
I think we need to give Lawton and the rest of the squad a few games before dismissing them out of hand
Struck me, during an idle moment, that many of our younger lads were promising youngsters with good academy squads who for a variety of reasons (injury, change of coach etc) fell by the wayside a bit, still in the game but not following the line of progression that they had hoped for. Tim Sheens sought them out because they had something to prove, to themselves if nobody else, and gave them that opportunity.
Encouragement from our fanbase could hopefully make the difference. Here's hoping anyway!
Well, this is at least a good way of keeping up the number of academy products in the squad for the short-term!
Agree with a lot of the comments made on Lawton. Has the attributes and size to be a top player, but needs the desire and work rate to go with it. Hopefully he finds that. I wonder whether he might have done things differently if he had his time again.
Agree with your sentiments James. In his comments you get a hint of his thoughts. Big, fast and great hands, at a young age he hardly had to work at it but going up a few steps and you get caught out!
Might be a bit OTT but working hard and enjoying it with old mates could make him, and us, enjoy the games. I certainly hope so.
After a slow start by all it looks like Adam is starting to enjoy his rugby more and more every week. Hopefully he carries on improving along with the rest of the squad.

Totally agree. I know how hard he works at his game and always gives 100%. Some of the criticism was uncalled for and look how he has silenced those critics. Player of the season so far for this year followed by Ste Tyrer
Adam certainly has been a key player in the team in recent weeks and deserves much praise for his efforts.
However despite last Sunday’s “blip” Jack is my best player so far.
Player of the season for me - Brad O’Neill.
Lawton, Owens, Clough, Farnworth and Tyrer all not far behind.
Totally agree with comments re Lawton. Most improved player. The sad thing is that if he maintains this form, he is more than likely be moving on next season. Leigh?
Player of the season for me is Farnworth, but Tilleke worth a mention for his 100% effort having been thrown in at the deep end. Can't argue with the rest mentioned O'Neill, Owens, Clough and Tyrer. Hatton is also looking a solid player too.
I wonder whether the club have offered contracts to these players? Doubt that O'Neill will be joining us, other than on a loan deal.
I’d say there’s zero chance of O’Neill as a permanent signing but hopefully he stays at least until Tomkins (already signed for 2022) is back in the side. I suspect we will be looking to retain most of our 1-17. Probably not Jewitt or Dwyer as they are barely playing and with Clough, Cook and Smith it will likely be down to them whether they feel they have another season in them.
We will need to replace any of the above who leave and maybe let one or two of the outside backs who are down the pecking order go in order to give us more depth in the forwards.

doubt we will see Tomkins this season and maybe not next, O’Neil would be a great signing - the future not the past
Maybe consider Smitby in a player/ assistant coach role. He wants experience coaching and it would probably help SF and Smithy alike at a sensible cost.
