How do we know that ANY of the current Board are getting paid? Where is the proof not hearsay.

I don't think even given all the circumstances, asking for the club to finish 6th in a league of 14 is unreasonable at all.

At the end of the day, we are told that the academy was scrapped because there wasn't enough money to fund a competitive first team and an academy, so surely we can infer that the expectation is the first team is competitive.

Good to see the positivity returning to the Forum.

Lawton just might turn out to be a decent signing if he has the ambition. He is 27 and maybe sees Widnes as his last opportunity to make it in the game. Finnegan must have thought he was worth a deal.

Finnegan had coaching experience at TWP and Newcastle and, in my opinion, will be a good coach.

Why bring up Sheens? He walked away. People can only guess why he left, but does it matter? He's gone. The club and Sheens may have agreed that neither side would make a statement.

The Board have done a good job since Administration in keeping the club afloat with the priority of putting the club in a stable financial position - as much as any club with the impact of covid on finances.

We have signed the experienced forwards that many thought we lacked in 2019; we have retained the experience of Smith and Tomkins; we have brought in several young players from the Academy, looking to make the grade in the first team; and the club have said that they will look to make further signings when the finances for 2021 are clearer. We don't even know at this stage when crowds will be allowed back in the grounds.

Other than Leigh, what players have other Championship clubs signed that could have come to Widnes? There will be players released by SL clubs in the coming months with no reserve teams and clubs cutting back. Which players currently available should we be looking to sign? Maybe SBW will take drop in salary to come to Widnes part-time!!! Has Olbison signed for anyone?

I am looking forward to the 2021 and watching Widnes, covid permitting. The Championship will be a competitive league in 2021, but Widnes should be capable of competing at the top end of the table with a play-off position a minimum target.

Exactly, how many clubs will have financial trouble by this time next year? Fev and York probably will. Too many people confuse ambition with recklessness, sometimes been ambitious is also about been sustainable. So you are saying that all the clubs in the championship have overextended themselves but we are not because of the pandemic? Did the pandemic only affect the Vikings? We are amongst the best supported clubs in the championship and have VIQI but we aren’t bringing in any quality signings or an experienced coach but lesser supported clubs are able to? People are saying we should make the play offs, but that squad doesn’t look a top six championship side to me, it looks like a lack of ambition if I am being honest.

No, but most championship clubs had revenue from 2019 season, we had substantially reduced income due to admin. Yes, all have been affected by Covid but we as a club, started off at a lower base than other clubs.

Look if the money is there, we would spend it. It isn’t a conspiracy, the board are good people, people who put their money where their mouths are. They are fans not leeches.

Why are people belly acheing not even kicked a ball yet.

Trust the board, ( they did save the club ) trust the players.

We may be in Div 1 but we are basicly starting from scratch. It will take a few "normal seasons" before things improve.

Don’t make fun of substance abuse. It’s not a laughing matter ( as some people on here know too well!)

Has Olbison signed for anyone? I

Not as far as I know which is surprising.Decent forward, Tom.I'm sure he'll be signed up soon, either a lower end SL club or maybe Bradord/ Featherstone/ York.

I think what happens with most teams is that their own supporters have blinkers on and can’t see much further. With respect and I hope I’m wrong but anything higher than 6th position will be an over achievement for the club. That’s just my opinion looking at the other sides in the league.

6th an over achievement! Sweet Lord above. How far have we fallen! If we aren’t in the top 3 heads should roll!

So 5th place will be an over achievement?? 4th place is a minimum for me. Leigh who had spent big and had a good side already have now gone up. Toronto/Hull KR, whoever would have been relegated had it been a normal SL season are also not in the Championship, they probably would have stayed full time and gone straight back up.

Tolouse will win the league for me, full time and with players like Peyroux and Paulo signed from Saints. Followed by London and Featherstone. Who's next? York, Fax, Bradford? All semi pro average teams, no reason at all we can't beat them. Fax have lost a load of players, Bradford are distinctly average and have signed no one. York probably have the best squad of the mid table teams.

It’s 2 months before the first game, we may have more players added before then. Think we need to see how the first few games go, of course a lot will depend on the fixtures - do not fancy Toulouse, London away early doors

fixtures are released in January, anyone got any idea of date ?
