Decent win but a shame about the finish. Hopefully we will have Farnworth and Cook back next week.

Where do you start with that ?
first Sheffield’s kit that must have gone wrong in the wash

our performance, up and down to say the least, some easy offloads missed

finally the red card for Lawton, never a red maybe a yellow, got to appeal that

That was a good win in the end. We do let the opposition back into it too easily though with unforced errors & silly plays. Overall though with that 17 that is a big win. Thought Lawton was man of the match & thought he was very unlucky to be sent off. I  have only seen it once but I thought their player ran into Lawton who had his back to the opponent. Sheffield overreacted as did the playe rconcerned IMO. Knowing our luck though he will not get sending off sufficient. We cannot afford to be without Lawton for the 2 big away  games coming up.

That looked harsh on Lawton, slow motion maybe shows more but it looked like the Sheffield player ran into Lawton

Lawton was daft to turn his body into the sheff player (From my view of the incident) however it’s never a red card for me

Seeing the replay back on twitter, it looked soft as far as a red is concerned.

Shame that we let them finish with a couple of tries but for the period at the start of the second half we were all over them and again Lawton showed how valuable he is in attack.

Thought it was noticeable how much donkey work the backs do today.

Thought all the three quarters were solid today and Owens was excellent.

Got to be happy with a win today . Could have gone horribly wrong with the forwards missing today but fair play all got stuck in and as others have said the backs did a lot of donkey work today.

What’s Samy Kibula up to these days seeing as he was one of the players not being offered a contract by Wire next year

Kibula is out for the season injured, suffered in pre-season while on loan at Newcastle.

I noticed this in the Fev game. They ran their blood to water. This certainly takes the pressure off the forwards where we are a bit light at times. This has allowed the forwards to preserve their energy ready for defence. Its no coincidence that our achilles heal at the start of the season (defending the middles) has improved remarkably.

Although the backs getting more involved in clearing our territory is very much part and parcel of the modern game, I think we do it more than most teams in the middle and the problem with this is that our backs aren't always set up as they should be for counter attacks perhaps.

Whilst it can be thought of as a negative style, it is definitely helping us to improve results.

A good win and sets us up for a change in fortunes in travelling to Yorkshire in the next two games, particularly if we have not picked up further injuries and Cook and Farnworth back (or maybe a loan player).

Looked at Lawton sending off again. It was a clear obstruction and the player ran into the back of Lawton and bounced off. There did not seem to be any shoulder or elbow contact. Possibly a yellow card, but definitely not a red card offence. Lawton is turning out to be a great addition to the squad, brought in by Finnegan and his attacking threat would be missed if he is suspended.

These next couple of games are the acid test for whether we have any realistic chance of making the top six. Our record in Yorkshire in the last few years has been unbeliveably poor and unless that changes we will definitely finish in the bottom half of the table. Danny Brough being out injured will give us a better chance at Odsal but it still demands a very good performance. Produce something similar to the level of our effort at Fev and could turn them over.

Just watched the Lawton incident again and from the first angle just looks like an accidental collision, maybe Lawton did run across him, but considering 80th minute im surprised a yellow didn’t suffice.

Hopefully the panel will deem sending off sufficient.
