With rhe current retentions and new signings, what's your 17 looking like ?

I will have a go.

1-Owens

2- Ince

3- Roberts

4 - Edge

5 - Dixon

6 - Gregson

7 - Gilmore

8 - Kirk

9 - Fozzard

10 - Reilly

11 - Wilde

12 - Field

13 - Lloyd

14 - Johnstone

15 - Bent

16 - Brooks

17 - Fleming

Missing out

Walker

Lyons

Brookes (O)

Tilleke

Butt

  • Would like to see a new 6, a centre and 2 more forwards who can break a line, Dudson would be a good addition at prop and would free up Kirk to play a bit wider.

Thoughts 🏉

  1. Dudson won't be happening as Coleman has dismissed signing 30+yr old SL players ...think Lyons will almost certainly be starting 6..lyodd in 2nd row and gregson at 13..agree need a new 6..another prop and back rower...won't get them but still

Lyons will be the 6, fairly sure of that. Gregson at 13.

Think probably Lloyd and Wilde in the back-row, Field as the interchange option across the pack.

Will be interesting to see how Owens and Johnstone go and where they play.

Massive season for Johnstone who needs to start showing his abilities week in week out now,in his peak years. Can't rely on potential forever.

@jdgsport Joe will be our 6  without a doubt Coleman likes him an was about to sign him at Swinton before he came here. The fans are over harsh on Joe like they was with Currier many moons ago. Joe was made the scapegoat when the likes of Owens and many others where playing more badly. People donn't realise that both halves have an attacking job to do and the out and out stand off no longer exists the HBs line up on different sides of the pitch so to if there is no attacking play then both HBs are to blame. Gilmore is no better or worse than Joe yet for whatever reason some think he is gods gift but his attacking prowess is no better than Joe's but his defence is nowhere near as good.

When Kear was coach he wouldn't allow off the cuff play which is why Joe was dropped as he wouldn't keep to the 5 drives and a kick crap, lets see what happens now the leash is off you may be pleasently suprised so get off the lads back and give him a chance.

@prisoner

joe has been consistent performer for us, not letting us down but not ripping it up

i hope you are right with your analysis, but still think we need more half back cover

I can't see Butt coming here with Coleman and not being in the starting 17, at least initially. Perhaps Ince will be in a battle for his place, as I feel Dixon is the best winger we have (not a criticism of Ince btw!).

A dynamic centre on loan from a SL club would not go amiss looking at the squad.
