Jailed for ten weeks for punching a constituent.

MP for Runcorn and Helsby, which is not a million miles from Widnes, so......

1) Are any of you from his constituency? And.......

2) What is your opinion of the sentence imposed on him?

Spelly.

He'll appeal the sentence Spelly. No doubt commuted to a suspended one with our two-tier justice system, or excuse for one. Make no mistake, if it was you or I, we'd already be serving 2 - 4 years bird. I understand MPs must endure a lot of goading and provocation, but his behaviour was absolutely disgraceful and showed a man who is not in control of his temper. Shouldn't be anywhere near a job like MP if this is how he behaves.

Just been on the radio that he'll continue to be paid whilst in prison!

I have sympathies for the residents of Runcorn and Helsby!

Surely he should be sacked, and a by-election called?

Spelly.

I suppose you have to let the law run its course and await any appeal, before demanding his resignation.

If the sentence stands or maybe increased or even suspended, I have no doubt there will be a recall petition and an election called. Mr Farage will be licking his lips at the chance of contesting the seat

So a sitting MP assaults a man in front of witnesses and on CCTV and has his 10 week sentence reduced to suspended

Meanwhile Derek Heggie gets 10 and half months for posting "young white girls are being raped by these grooming gangs"

because he made, according to the judge who jailed him two "ill-informed and potentially dangerous" posts

10 months for "potentially" and 10 weeks suspended for actually assaulting someone ...

And Starmer had the temerity to say today that we have free speech in the UK and he's very proud of that ..

BTW i dont believe Amesbury should have been jailed at all, these things happen IMHO, a fine, bound over or something  along those lines would have been enough but it just highlights once again how the justice system has been politically weaponised to force ideology on the public

And today its revealed that the judge who released Amesbury jailed a 53 year old woman for 15 months for a single facebook post

Are you joking? Whether he was goaded or not earlier in the night he walked over to the guy punched him to the ground, then continued to beat a defenceless man on the floor until bystanders intervened.

Where would he have stopped if they weren't there? Fights happen, but assaulting someone on the floors is despicable. If he had punched him once maybe not, but he didn't.

Not only should he have received a long sentence for ABH/GBH (Possible the wrong terms) the judge is an absolute hypocrite.
They said he shouldn't be sentenced any differently just because he's an MP (& whilst I agree with that even though they should be held to a higher accountability for standards) he also said he only stopped because he was dragged off or who knows what could have happened.

We have people being jailed for years for offences that are minor compared to this. Take away his job title and he would be doing a long stretch, so he has been treated differently.

Two tier indeed...makes me sick.
