Our friendly with Saints has been cancelled.

According to the press release it " -------- was playable yesterday, but the overnight frost --------"

Cloudless sky here in Monton at present, so could the wintry Sun have done the job and softened the playing surface? The match commissioner thought otherwise, so it's Thatto on the Beeb now for my RL fix.

That's two financial hits we've taken very quickly, with loss of the home fixture to Fev now not gonna happen.

Why couldn’t they have played it tomorrow? It’s supposed to be a lot warmer with a bit of rain.

Not sure mate. Just a guess, but poss Sale have summat already organised. Christening, birthday, et al? The clubhouse is often used for such events.

Also, could some of the players / staff / officials, have planned for a Sunday with their families, knowing they'd have a free day?

Providing we get past Mayfield or Rose Bridge, we'll have Wakey as our visitors in the third round if the Cup.

A chance to make a few quid hopefully!

I've arranged the walk this year for the 'Haven game on 10 May, and any contribution would be greatly appreciated please!

Thank you in advance!

So it's Ince Rose Bridge away next week for us in the Cup, after their 18-12 win at Mayfield today.

I'm guessing that it'll be Sunday, but may know summat more concrete tomorrow.

Ince station is only half a mile from the ground, so it looks like it's a train job for us.

Coach Paul Wood, and skipper Kenny Baker, are old Bridge boys.

Just gotta hope there's no slip-ups, so we can host Powell's People in the third round, and put a few bob in the bank!

Lions 8-12 'Ornits, at a cold and rainy Heywood Road this aft.

Two poor teams, one (srappy) try each, and a game that won't live long in the memory.

We led 2-0 at the break, but didn't do enough with the amount of possession we had.

They shaded it after the interval.

Were we worth a win? No. A draw? Perhaps. But as my mate from 'Ornits said to me at the end "I'll take that!"

So it's Rose Bridge next. Apparently an RFL official said today, that he doesn't think Bridge's facilities cover the standards to host the tie, so........

We'll have to wait and see as to where, and when it'll be played.

Fixture with Rose Bridge confirmed as Saturday 2.00pm at their place.

Tickets already booked.

Hopefully, no slip-up, so we rake in a bit of (much needed) dosh against Wakey.

It was mentioned, albeit briefly, at the shirt launch pre Christmas, and there's a further update at an evening on Monday.

It struck me the other day, that as I started watching 'em in '61, and we got kicked out in '92, it means I've been longer away from SR, than I was there!

It's not gonna happen this week, this month, this year, but at least there's a light at the end of the tunnel!

I've seen us host games at (I think) fifteen different venues!

Spelly, hopefully that will happen - but as you say a long way away, and in the mean time we need to ensure you have clubs to play !
