Davy spending a lot of money on players - last throw of the dice to ensure they get higher in the league and more IMG points before they move to their smaller stadium
assuming they got a B grading
the end of next season could be very interesting, lots of squeaky bums
Seems to be a few throwing money at Champs teams (eg Oldham!) hoping for progress, but where do they think they are going?
I honestly believe that we are taking a more balanced approach with the knowledge of past experience, and a wish to stand our own feet rather than be bought. Bigger signings and the belief that success can be bought is a doubtful way forward.
The game, as presently organised, looks very much on the edge and likely either to fail (simply because TV doesn't want it anymore), or fall into the hands of marketeers who I fear will misuse our game.
Neither option appeals to me tbh.
I remember when one of the main characteristics of rugby league's success was the quality of the product on the field.
It was exciting, entertaining and full of honesty and integrity.
Compare that to the 'Emperor' s New Clothes' approach to today's game where the RL authorities and it's friends in the media, think a game full of gadgets and gizmo's can bluff us into believing that the product really is fantastic, and that everyone should be watching it!
The much lauded flagship IMG review continues to unravel and be shown up for what it is - with the recent news of Salford and Huddersfield who are looking to downsize being just the two latest examples.
When is the RL going to wake up to the fact that the game is going downhill fast - reminds themselves of what really made the game great - and take the appropriate action?
Never
I guess that I am just another old f@rt who remembers the days when what we watched were honest working lads who could play an honest game of RL. Soccer was much the same then of course and was better for it!
Now its the tinsel and glitter that people want, or are told its what they want!!!
Happy Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It does seems a lot of clubs panicking and throwing money in which could mean going bust eventually. We are going about it correctly building our fan base, mixing with the community and being more of a people's club. Merry Christmas everyone 🌲🍻
@pascal Are we building the fan base though? We seem to have lost fans year on year recently according to what we have been told. The average attendance last year in IMG was 1,800.

They have the Pass it on Season Tickets for kids at £35. There is 1000 Season ticket holders already and if 500 bought them that be 1k bought as the board will double it. Straight away that is 1k new fans and they bring a parent that doubles again. So the 1k becomes 2k fans, plus the 1k bought Season tickets already is 3k fans for Season tickets. It is down to us too spreading the word, and winning on the pitch will help and the close community work.
Well well, on about taking over the shay now as a temporary base until their new (smaller) ground is built, in the mean time they pay for upgrades to the shay which will boost the panthers IMG score
not sure how that will affect shudder IMG rating though - no figures for crowds in new stadium, do they take fax’s score for the shay - it really is a total farce
