So all SL games to be televised under the new TV package & every game to have a video referee.
My thoughts are the video referee is a good move as it has always been wrong that only the televised games had one. On the other hand it will be costly & do we have enough trained referees to cover it right away? Will the costs be taken from the Championship & League 1 budget?
On the full coverage of games I do not think this wil help at all but in reality reduce attendances, possibly significantly, especially in the current financial climate in the UK.
What do others think?
It’s a con, central funding reduced so each club gets less, however all SL games are televised - which I expect gives the home team a fee so SL a teams get more each which does not go into central funding
Fox show our SL televised games each week, as do we show theirs. Maybe they will sell all 6 games to them, generating revenue for the coffers.

@ditton-donkey how is it a con?
I know this is about SL, but I see that Viaplay are pulling out of all UK broadcasting. I hope another broadcaster picks up the championship.
because the deal is on reduced funding so the share for all goes down, but if the SL clubs are paid a fee for televising their games, their money goes up, without any going to lower league clubs
@ditton-donkey I'd suspect its on reduced funding because the vast majority couldn't care less for RL. I'd say sports like NFL, darts, women's football and netball all get more coverage on Sky than RL.
Just out of interest, does anyone know how much clubs are paid when their games are televised?
Would have thought the TV money would have come out of the money sky pays to all teams in SL, not sure they would get any extra if their game is selected to be televised.
@d-day I'd agree mate, as all games will be televised with a video ref as well. Sky claim it costs 20k a game for the video ref so would be surprised if they'd be stumping up any more. This is the third sky deal in a row which has been on reduced terms, which tells me they don't see RL as a big sell.
The championship games on viaplay where getting higher audiences than SL so we was told.@d-day I'd agree mate, as all games will be televised with a video ref as well. Certainly at Championship level travel to away games is pretty well non existent. We have a hardy few who make the effort, but as most TV games are evening events that makes it very hard.
We should also remember that many of even the stronger Championship sides are poorly attended at home anyway.
In truth if it wasn't for a few wealthy businessmen the Championship would fold and SL sides would struggle.

It was said that some Championship games got better viewing figures than some of the Sunday Super League games, though it was Chris Hamilton who said it.
