Watching the NRL games under the new rules it is obvious that aerobic fitness will be paramount. Playing another six tackles is a lot harder than watching a penalty kick advance yoy up the field. Younger sides could benefit greatly.
I think the new rules helped Saints this afternoon, they looked faster and fitter than Catalan, whose big players weren’t suited to the conditions.
Watching the NRL games and one thing that stands out is that the better sides have a range of 'moves', all well practised and very slick. Storm always seem to have a move to fit the situation and it shows.
That also seems to fit with TS's comments that he is happy for players to 'do what they like - but only after you've done it in training!'
It is that hunt for perfection that makes the game fast and good to watch. Saints have that same objective and it works!
