@cumbria-viking sometimes it comes across as he actually does it against the fans in the build up gregson photo was used or bent not our stars as though it's a "I'll stick with them" mentality which will without doubt see him being sacked this season I don't see how you improve with the same players ?

I think both clubs will find themselves fortunate not to land themself fines from the RFL after that tonight.

It was a decent crowd for a friendly and a good following from Widnes - clearly the stewarding in the ground wasn't up to scratch.

Warrington fans (one in particular) were goading throughout and he should have been chucked out before things escalated.

The pint throwing (each to their own but I'd never queue for ages to buy a flat overpriced pint and then lob it) was going on from both sides, I even saw coins and eggs being thrown into our end!

Leaving the ground was worse, mobs of chavvy Warrington kids looking for trouble.

It was certainly a moody atmosphere towards the end and I'd be surprised if we see this fixture in pre-season again. My son who loves the rugby and goes everywhere was panicking about leaving that stadium tonight.

Pretty good assessment. From my view, there only appeared to be one steward who was even bothered about doing anything to stop any trouble. A couple just need to be ejected and it calms down. The handful of Widnes fans who tried (and in some cases did) get over the ad boards and then ran a foot forward were pathetic and should never be seen at a game again. Whatever provocation there was from any Warrington fans prior to that doesn't excuse what they did.

I walked right through the crowds behind the west stand about 10/15 minutes after full time. There was a group of teenage Warrington fans singing 'stand up if you love Wire' and just trying to provoke something and stewards stood by them not really moving them on. Remember myself thinking it was stupid because everybody was stood up. There was a large number of people stood around just watching them almost thinking the same as me. Clearly it blew up after that.

What gets me is that football clubs have to pay an absolute fortune to police fixtures, and yet a rugby match with 4,000+ doesn't apparently require any. Needed police presence to disperse fans their separate ways after the match rather than hanging around outside the west stand encouraging it.

It at least distracted from the match, which was largely dire. Very little organisation in the middle, if Gilmore isn't playing then Owens needs to either be at 6 or at 1.

@vikingfox71 you know what it wouldn't surprise me ...general consensus is he was terrible..but he's been terrible there several times ...it's for me just blind loyalty ...I can't think of a single Widnes fan that thinks gregson justifies even being close to a match day 17 let alone starting LF ...but the gaffer selects them...they stink the whole game and the boss says they were great .....it's bizarre tbh
