I thought the game video was a decent first effort. I’m not sure if you’ve seen the ground from last week McKV, the only way they could film from any higher would be by climbing on the roof of the stands. I’m sure this weeks game will look a lot better with the elevated view at our ground. Really good idea and hope it takes off and generates a lot of cash for the club for little outgoings.

🤞

Thought the interviews from the Members Monday were brilliant.

Really good stuff regarding the development of players, especially Brad and Danny Walker.

Sheens' knowledge and experience will be invaluable for the club.

Just subscribed to Widnes TV on Vimeo. Using chromecast and my iPhone to watch the videos on the telly. Took about five minutes to upload the apps. Videos play no problem. Content looks pretty good already. I’m sure the quality of filming live matches will improve over time.

I’m pretty sure the club said home games would be HD (where they have the pick of videoing position etc...) but tbh 50 quid for 27 games (13 in HD)  more in-depth interviews/segments, training and unseen footage etc is excellent value even if away games are at the mercy of the home club

maybe people need to pull back their expectations slightly...

i think it’s a case of people wanting the club to be successful in every aspect of their services and if widnes TV 📺 is the best it can be then more people will sign up for it = more money for the club

Just watched a clip from today’s game, speddings try in the corner

the video footage looks great compared to the Oldham game and if it has commentators it will be worth the cost of signing up for widnes 📺

looking forward to the full game on Wednesday

Just watched the video of the Batley game and must say the video was very good quality

no replays but that’s to be expected, no tackle count or clock 🕰 and no commentary but 🤞 all this will come over the next couple of weeks. All in all very promising compared to the Oldham games video

Having no commentary is'nt necessarily a bad thing.

I think the videos are good and will improve with time. The only video that was annoying was the members Monday, as I heard the fans laughing more and very echoey the chats. I am really happy overall buying Widnes TV and hopefully more people buy into it.

Just watching the Batley game so thought I would offer some feedback! I’m watching on my tv via Vimeo app on a firestick.

ive no issues with the camerawork at all. Clear, crisp pictures with good focus look great with the background of our pure green pitch! To be honest, I hadn’t given a second thought to the cameraman or the number of cameras as it wasn’t impacting my viewing.

On-screen graphics look great. Perhaps the score banner is a bit big? Maybe reduce to 60% of size and move up into corner so not obscuring the action? I see others have commented on tackle count and a clock graphic. I thought about a clock myself, but then thought how difficult it would be to match it to time on/off and how much people would moan if it was just left running past 40 mins per half. Tough to crack without the budget of Sky, but I’d rather see a non-stopping clock running than nothing if that is the only solution. A commentator would help clarify approx stoppage times through the game so it wouldn’t be too bad. Tackle count - nah, just count yourself!

Commentary is the big thing missing for me and as mentioned it would bring the missing pieces of time played/remaining and occasional tackle count as a part of commentary. Big thing for me at the moment is getting used to who the players are. I think the addition of commentary will take it to another level - though the words “I can’t speyk” suddenly spring to mind! (If you’ve seen it, you’ll know!)

One suggestion I do have, which many won’t like, is that the club could perhaps add a couple of adverts to the broadcast to raise extra revenue? I don’t think a couple at the start and a couple at HT would spoil anything. Another thought would be that after the game they could get Tim Sheens to do a quick commentary of first half tries and then second half tries. This could then be edited in at half time and then full time so we get his thoughts on how we scored/conceded in each half, just a couple of minutes reflection. I think these little bits will make it more of a ‘show’ and not just a video replay.

very good ideas with the Sheens comments and I wouldn’t mind some advertisements if it brings in more revenue for the club

some very good ideas there

One thing that annoys me with the player interviews is at the end of nearly all of them they ask how good the fans are.

Personally don’t think we need that all the time.

Not exclusive to Widnes this, though and not too much of an issue.
