Who should go

Which players do you think we should let go at the end of the season?

Lloyd and Williams are supposed to be retiring, so they won’t be here, out of the others, I would let go are

Patton, Lyons, Gregson, Bennion and Hall if he’s injured again, he’s a good player, but no point in keeping someone who’s injury prone. I would give Bailey a chance to prove if he’s good enough or not.

And hopefully get a better dual reg club than Warrington (shouldn’t be hard)!

Being realistic, the thought of signing up a squad ready for day one of the new season is pretty much for the birds.

You sign a squad that could represent the club but you have to leave enough in the bank to fine tune and 'buy in' loanees after half the season has gone!

The Board, and AC plainly have plans, or a plan, to progress carefully and economically towards SL.

I guess that our funding plan is less cavalier than Oldham who just threw cash at things. They may succeed but they will need a lot of good fortune imo. Our Board are building from the bottom up with an academy, women's team etc plus other initiatives in the financial support.

There are undoubtedly things that have to be private within the Boardroom and as supporters we should respect that.

If these plans all work out we could have the fullest organisation of any applicant in the future.

Fair comments mate it is very difficult especially with the RFL changing the goal posts every few seasons. Personally teams like Oldham and Featherstone etc could be wasting money with no guarantee of promotion. I feel it is better how we are doing it now, as we could end up with a bigger investor than Oldham in 2 years time, and then they have basically wasted there money.

Back on topic I feel we was not too far off a team being top 4. What we lacked is squad depth and a few big props. The creativity halfback is a must who has a running game, but I have never been a fan of Gregson or Lyons.

I agree regarding gregson, but he is signed for at least another year

lyons I feel,is still developing when allowed - he had his best game running the show against Toulouse and then got injured

with regard to the club and where we are , I feel we are doing the right thing and not going for broke like Oldham and fev have been doing

in reality we probably have 2 seasons in the championship to develop the club and try again for the promised land.

however I would be happy with a competive team at the top of the championship for now, before SL implodes

@7-vikingnomad

The one thing that we can't forget is that while we want the Board to work towards the big day so must the supporters. THe crowd is pretty consistent and needs to continue to grow if possible.

I did wonder that if we have junior sides and the girls team there might be a chance of playing their games before our fixture, two games for the price of one.

Good experience for the junior and girls and a better deal for supporters!

The question is who can we bring in to improve the current squad. Chapelhow is local and will be a decent squad player at championship level but won’t be a player that can win us games. Who else are rumored to be signing for next season

Joe mellor?

owen farnworth?

@begg Totally agree. Every home fixture should be an 'Event'. When all age groups of the development squad are established, any age group and the Women's team (if at home) should play their games leading up to the Main Event, which would be the First Team at 3pm. They were doing it in Australia decades ago.

@pauliewalnuts Good idea but how much extra would the council charge the club to open early? They have to pay all the match day staff by the hour.

@dan1 probably by the hour, although, less stewarding would be needed for the earlier games, as I'd imagine they would only open one/two blocks.
