Nailed it..........the club is in a very serious predicament with very few players in key positions fit or available, an inexperienced coach and owners who are doing their best but untested........ALL fans need to get behind the club and urge that the situation can be improved.  Too many kids in the side and not much off players.........................and the only try of the season in contact with the flag which has been disallowed!!!!!!!

Again, not that it matters, but that’s a try.

Hold on to avoid relegation…no offence but that is the most damning statement of those in charge and the players.

Correct

I can take getting beat Geoff, but to put in zero effort (especially when you know your opponents are that good) is simply inexcusable.

The commentators on Merseyside were saying  from the start we would have a very difficult afternoon.   If this was a boxing match it would be stopped. We have in the main young small players who are simply being overpowered at will.  I do not think there is a lack of effort individually just in a different league player wise. Granted we are not playing like a team or showing much ability but that is hard to show when you are so outmatched in ability & size. In our financial position I cannot see us progressing this season with this squad. Remember this is not Finnegan's squad, it was assembled before he came aboard. The best we can hope for is to avoid relegation & go again next year hopefully with priority forward players who will not be permanently on the treatment table. I am pretty confident we are strong enough to avoid relegation unless something disastrous happens financially or injury wise.  We are all frustrated but we are where we are.

Let's make the best of what we have.

I doubt there is a money-tree we can shake to pay off Finnigan's severance pay. Although personally I don't believe that he has been given a chance and so want he to stay. Do you think Finnigan is happy with the performance?

As for the running of the club - I've not heard of any millionaires desperate to sign up. Do I believe the current board are doing their very best for the club - yes.

It's a long season with plenty of time to turn things around, obviously we won't be challenging for the play-off which is a pity since SL might well become a closed shop again but 'we-are-where-we-are'.

Geoff, it’s the championship and you are talking about avoiding RELEGATION! I’m sorry, but yet again, its the Widnes fans have been strung along like lemmings AGAIN! The club is dying infront of our eyes! No excuse whatsoever. We were told there is money available for players! Where are they?  We are a shambles.

I agree with you Geoff. I don’t think we saw the capitulation today that we have seen in previous games, and I don’t think we could’ve done much better than we did with what we have. Somebody earlier said Toulouse aren’t a good team, I disagree and think they are by far the strongest team I have seen so far - though not seen Fev play yet. One thing is clear and that is we are the wrong side of the split that usually develops in the Championship and we will have no easy games at all this season.

I understand what you are saying Geoff but we had the second largest attendance behind Bradford Bulls last year (normal season.) We had around 1600 fans (if memory serves me correctly) who donated season ticket refunds to the club and had VIQI money to call on for recruitment and retention. We do not have stadium maintenance and upkeep to pay for which is about the only advantage of being a tenant and not owning your own ground. To the best of my knowledge, other clubs did not have the income stream to call on that we did - perhaps I am wrong on this, but they have put together teams that can compete. We simply are not competitive. As has been said, too often it is boys against men with the inevitable outcome.  How come we have a squad so much weaker than other teams but have had more income to call on and fewer expenses? Happy to be corrected on all of this but after seeing another woeful display, I'm seriously worried about the future of our club.

It wouldn't matter who the coach is, the team aren't even doing the basics on the field.

We are not a big enough pack for going up the middle and tackling or lack of was a disgrace.

Finnigan inherited this team, its not his, but without money for replacements we are all stuck with who we have.

Was always gonna be a big loss but you would expect a better performance from the team.
