You are quite correct @begg about rumours of a Middle East guy or an Aussie, that's what they exactly are, rumours, not started by the Club, but people on here who's imagination runs away with itself. The Club said they had investment in place should they get accepted (which they didn't). We can only take that on it's merits.

We seem to have to accept being mediocre because the few of us complaining get told to wait and see
yes London are good but missed one on ones ,awful goalline defence, dire attacking is just more of the same as the last couple of seasons and last year we had condon and maizen and we won only 4 games at home incredible!!
why are we settling for this level

I am sure Stu Murphy said it in a fans forum meeting in 2025 and was recorded. Talks with a Middle East person and an Aussie but unfortunately did not elaborate. So it does makes you wonder. 👍
@begg Correct someone asked Stuart Murphy at the last fans forum if we could still pursue the investment for the Championship rather than SL and thats what he said.
I know this is astonishing after my recent rants but I'm going to be the voice of reason... everyone on here knew the outcome of this game well before kick off ..anyone that saw the two squads and thought yeah I fancy our chances is the ultimate optimist ...what I can relate to is we all probably thought at half time oi oi we might pull off the unthinkable and then 2nd half so many of our favourite traits appeared again...goal line defence pathetic...zero points scored ..bent getting trampled on the line by a prop...jack dropping the ball at FB...list is endless ...think we all fell for false hope ..if I'm brutally honest I thought Fleming was good till he went off ..thought gregson was steady for his standards .... one thing I would call out is the gaping lack of pace ...4 or 5 times we threw out wide and ince in particular had a free run ..but he's that slow he had to cut back in within ten metres ...abdull bar the missed touch I thought was good ...when our forwards were getting pegged in our own 20 his kicking got us 60m back down the other end ...is he fit no.. will he get better absolutely ... seriously though if your comparing the two squads it's chalk and cheese ..we're all part timers ...their full time ..large amount come from NRL or internationals ...it's literally like being port vale in football and kicking off because you didn't beat arsenal away ...it planned out exactly how we all expected...does that make it ok..no ...but little perspective is needed .... hopefully young Connell will now impress in the short term ...I don't think he's the answer to our FB problems as he's not blessed with pace ....but hey let's hope he rips it up..

In a nutshell.

@cumbria-viking I fully agree with your last post.
I agree about Connell. I also think Houghton should be played ahead of Bent if only for size alone. I also hope the ex Wire winger gets a chance too when fit. What I fear however is that Coleman will continue to pick his favourites the younger lads will get disillusioned & leave like last season. Let us hope Coleman has learnt his lesson from last year. I am not holding my breath though as he has already loaned the half back who did ok & assisted a try against the Wire to Salford!
We live in hope.
COYV.
Langtree needs half a game at least. It's no use re-signing injury prone players and then being scared to pick them in case they get injured.
@geoffw I think from the noises that have come from the gaffer and Tim Holmes there's a very strong chance sergent will break into the team ...both have singled him out as the one that's impressed and surprised the most ...looks quite lively from footage ..quite quick with a good step

Bang on Sinbad I do not understand why re signed him if not going to play. May as well give me and you a contract to sit in the stands. The same every season the club not learn? I really hope Langtree stays fit as he definitely got the size we need for the back row. Lawton, Langers and Wilde are 3 decent size back rowers. I still like one more big prop and bring back Toby Hughes and ship Lyons out for me.
I think that the Thatto heath game will be good for us - time to use fringe players and ensure ‘injured’ players get an extra week to recover
with regard to joey - I think he has had enough chances now and bring back hughes
i assume when Gilmore is back he will play 7 and abdull 6 - which could be a very good combination
And also I think mcwhirter or hall should start ahead of gregson
it's not the London game in general it's the clubs attitude to recruiting or us fans
if they think more of the same is acceptable? Is Wilde an adequate replacement for condon? Will we replace maizen ? That's to keep a team together that finished 7th
other teams have recruited aggressively we recruit like we play conservative but it's getting harder to watch surely a big signing would sell jerseys ,season tickets , give the player a job in community and see if can get a grant for it ,it's not a lot but I'd like to see the effort to win
Agree with your sentiments there - no Wilde is not as good as condom, but he is a good player
with regard to maizen, what has been posted on here says that Widnes offered him a community job and the number 1 shirt but he was adamant he was going back to aus. As other# have said why not do that at end of last season, not a few weeks before season starts - will he reappear in the English game ?
we deffo need a couple of more players - perhaps we can offload gregson and bent to salfraud ?
