@scouseviking55 no the reality is if you keep signing the same players you get the same results this is the third season with basically the same squad so no progress will be made your disillusioning the fan base creating your own problems!! We all know the players that aren't good enough or injury prone yet we continue to sign them that's not the fans fault it's the clubs and the fans are beginning to get fed up .don't promise signings if you can't make them
Do we know how long Gilmore out for?
By the way, I take on board the range of comments and I’m no ‘rose-tinted’ fan! The point I was trying to make was simply that we might hold off on writing the season off until we have played another championship team more comparable.
@7-vikingnomad I was talking to someone who went yesterday and he said they must have given lots of free tickets away, he thought there was less than 2,000 there
I thought it looked a decent crowd. Plus, I noticed the stream was hovering around 8k users. That will have included fans of other clubs (saw a few arguments before I decided to switch off the chat) but there is a bit of interest there.
Crowd did look decent 4380 reported on love rl forum
I noticed while waiting for the match to begin on You Tube, there was a video on there of one of their Aussies asking fans to go to the match and contact him if they wanted “cheap “ tickets.

Gilly has had an hernia op, is back running in training, so won't be far off. Possibly NWC, or if not risked, I'm sure he'll play against Leeds.
Yesterday's game was 'too big' for Tara Jones MBE to referee. Campbell-Gillard is a bully, and I think he intimidated her into turning a blind eye, and keeping him on the field. Their line speed would have done Linford Christie proud, or maybe they were blatantly offside. I was there, so haven't had the benefit of the YouTube footage, but that's how it looked to me.
The first half was competitive, only going in 4pts adrift, but LB are bigger, fitter and have better players than us, so the game was always going to run away from us in the 2nd half. I think when they hit their straps in a couple of more weeks, they are going to post some massive scores that will make our score line, yesterday, respectable!
I look forward to play them in the return fixture in July. Decent crowd, yesterday, and well done to all Widnes Fans who travelled.
Paulie xx
Add to this the couple of missed forward passes which lead to tries, and the fact that our two biggest forwards were injured and couldn't play, then maybe our performance wasn't as bad as a handful of posters on here are making out.
I just hope that this season we get a level playing field as far as refereeing decisions go, something we didn't get last season.
agree with that, and as I commented in previous post - was it the camera angle but quite a few of their passes appeared to be forward, particularly a scoring one in the second half where mcwhirter turned to the ref with his hands up in disbelief
london png will beat a lot of teams by more points than that
Is this where we are at now.We 'only' conceded 44 points against London and they will hammer other teams by more ? Is this now the yardstick which measures our success ?
Let’s be honest, we know we will be very lucky to compete with London png - a team that have had a lot of investment and signed some quality players - you have to wish them luck on that if it can continue.
As everybody knows London in all its forms has struggled to attract crowds which at the end of the day without a sugar daddy are required.
We will bumble along where we are and hopefully get a team together that can compete and entertain on the pitch, until investment is found.
Also what do you think the salfraud fans yardstick is … scoring a try ?
Yes, It is mate.
Unless we get massive investment, like LB have done, then we're going to have to suck it up.
That's the reality of RL in 2026.

Paulie we all knew we would got beat by a fast, strong and with better players than us mate. There has not been a signed running halfback since Danny Craven. Abdul and Gilmore are similar apart from one is in better condition. Abdul does have a good kicking game and I am sure he will become better, especially with the conditioner working on his meal plans for the next few months. 🤣 What annoys me is Coleman keeps sticking with players such as Lyons, Gregson and no offence to Max Roberts but he is a utility player and for me not big enough for the back row. It seems to be the same every year and no improvements on the players. I presume this talk of a Middle East guy and an aussie was bullshit, or only come in if offered Super League? It seems every other club gets big investors apart from Widnes. 🤣
They've been flogging the London RL dead horse for 50 years. The simple truth is that very few people in London care about RL. Sure they will win the league this year, then they will get relegated the following year, then the money men will leave, then they will be back at square one. until the cycle starts again. they cant build a sustainable fanbase down there and never will.
