Rumoured to have signed for next season via the examiner by the normally in the know Matt shaw. Now I know 2 out of 3 signings from Swinton have been positive in Lloyd and Butt, but I don’t like the idea of just constantly signing their players.
We’ve been linked to bennion previously and, other than this season, he has been a regular in the championship. However he is 30 now.
Hall on the other hand i am against, he’s a horrid grub of a player who is a hothead and ill disciplined also turns 30 in a month.
owens, Gilmore (and at the start of next season Foz) all 30, to me it does seem a bit short sighted to be making a team of 30+ year olds for the next 2-3 years.
This is not a negative post just my opinions on the rumoured signings and current retainees for next year and beyond.
Many forwards, particularly props are at their best in their 30's.
It's not 'Swinton' players it is players known by our coach an valued by him. His choices seem to have worked out so far and I can't see why we should doubt him yet!
- Bennion has only played twice this season too due to injury. I do not know anything about Hall & cannot recall him to be honest. Coleman seems to have done very well so far since joining us & I suppose with our gates down by at least 600 per game despite a much better season & losing 800 members from the former money raising VIQI scheme our spending power must have been significantly reduced. Time will tell whether these 2 signings will be successful. I would think half back Hall will not be in the first 17 & is a squad cover signing.

Does not make sense going for an injured player after Langtree and many other experiences in the past. I trust Coleman's judgement and is after 26/27 squad players, and that wont be easy. He will need squad players who will not be too expensive, and it would be nice for any new updates on WVIPS members. Hopefully a little lower than 800 members lost now. If we do well then we may add further numbers, because I am thinking of joining WVIPS seeing the progress of the team. Flash Gordon and Mike Parsons podcasts are worth a listen, and both are very knowledgeable.

Assuming hall is a half back and Patton coming that would give us 4 half backs next season
