Hard on players though, particularly those nearing an end to their career. The sporting life is too short to waste any years!

Hard for everyone concerned really - the club will barely know themselves how things are going to pan out.

My personal opinion is it's unlikely we'll see any action in 2020. I'm not convinced Super League will get itself in a position where it can afford the appropriate testing to resume either.

I am a Lancashire Cricket Club member. They are asking members to donate their membership fees (essentially a season ticket) to the club in return for 25% of next year's membership plus a few other small entitlements irrespective if any spectator  cricket takes place this season. Anyone not wanting to do this has to inform them and then wait until the season is voided or completed. I have opted to donate but others will not be in a position to do so. I would do the same with a similar offer from Widnes.

I'd go with that.

There are some who might not want to, or be able to, but at least the club have some idea of what funding they should have next year. That will be essential if they are to offer next years contracts.

Depends on each person's situation, but I would agree to go with that too....

I will just renew again and let them keep this seasons money but the club are misleading people over last years season ticket. If you look on social media most are saying they will let the club keep the money due to the fact that the club honoured last years season tickets, as far as I recall the ST had to be honoured as part of the take over and due to operational rules. The club is not stating this in their messages and are giving the impression that they honoured the ST out of good will.

I may be wrong can anyone clarify these facts ?.

Its all very well saying the club should consult the fans and offer to refund those who want it. What if the club cant't actually afford to do that?

Carter at Wakefield as indicated if fans want a refund or a 2021 discount then it will be the death of the club. I think that will be the case for 90%+ of clubs.

I agree Widnes may well be in one of the better positions mainly due to the council and VIQI (i really wish they would give us a proper financial update. I don't get the secracy at all) but as a sport we in a very dangerous position and many clubs could cease to exist.

Whatever happens there will be an impact on season ticket numbers going forward and thats before you even get in too sponsors, can we really justify a new kit next year etc etc. Revenue will be down across all streams, while costs of testing, match day operations and insurance are likely to be up.

Very very tough situation to be in.

If I was looking to do something for the season ticket holders id do some sort of share issue. Gives fans ownership and may appease people losing money this, costs the club nothing bar diluting the current owners value of their stake and could even end up raising some money.

I dont see us playing again this season.

Tough one. Super League clubs have been dealing with it differently.

Think the best option is to enable people to claim a credit towards a 2021 season ticket.

The refund option has to be offered, I think it's counter-productive to block those fans that seek a refund from getting one. Who knows what sort of situation fans themselves might find themselves to be in, and ultimately, they've bought a ST and the service hasn't been provided (through no fault of the club's, of course)

You can't generalise as to what each persons financial situation is, but where possible we should not seek a refund on our ST's.

We love the club and now that we have got our club back from the leaches we must support the club all we can.

I'd agree I doubt the club has got it.  They're probably caught between offering what they feel they should and what they can actually afford.

I would imagine the club isn't in a position to offer any money out and would think a lot of the season ticket money is already spent, and on going season costs are met by gate receipts and sponsorship.

We can only hope that our fans have been lucky and avoided redundancy. Not good times to collect cash!

You have to feel for the fans who are still paying monthly for something they will never use.

And for clubs paying players who aren't playing!

The whole thing is a mess and we have to hope all sides can get through it.

But won' t almost everyone on the payroll (not Sheens obvs) have been paid by Mr Sunak? Okay there' s a modification from next month, but didn' t we (and many semi-pro clubs) enter a financial standstill after the Swinton game?. Last season's arrangements are history surely.
