Get rid of this rubbish coach he is clueless. No creativity in this team and when are we going to get a decent coach. Finnigan likes jobs for the boys and Fatty Owens over Roby get a grip. There is no flair and these players would be better with a decent coach. Fired up my passion is deteriorated with jobs for the boys again. 🥖🥖💩💩

Time to give Andrew Henderson a call it’s obvious Finnigan is out of his depth a better coach would get a tune out of this squad of players.

We can't afford to sack the coach and will therefore have to put up with him. If we do want a new man in charge we may as well keep Finnigan on the staff as we will have to pay him anyway..........Can he pull a pint in the  North stand bar.

There’s absolutely no chance of Simon being given the boot, financially we can’t afford to pay him off and bring someone else in.

We are stuck with him, but he has relatively little coaching experience, Let’s hope that he quickly learns how to motivate our squad (that contains some good players) and also starts to pick and use in-form players in their best positions.

I’ve banged on about it before and I will again, Simons support staff ain’t good enough, they are Finneys mates that Finney said had to stay and form part of the staff. There are experienced coaches in the town that can and would step up to assist. Why is the CEO on the bench at home games and sitting 2 seats away from the head coach last night? Looks like one of these always poking his nose in and trying to control everything.

His team, his signings and a full pre season together so that excuse is now null and void. The up coming Leigh fixture could have been one of the biggest games down here for years with 6500 in attendance but now it's a damp squib.

Said this for a while.

I’d guess Finney has had a hand in putting together every squad since being back in the Championship. We haven’t got a squad right once.

Going into the season with 5 props, one of which was injured all pre season and since got injured again was ludicrous. It’s not rocket science what works well in the Championship.

I would guess contractually, he is covered until the end of November?

That being said, is there anybody different out there compared to 18 months ago when we last appointed someone who is better and willing to come to Widnes right now? If Henderson could be persuaded, I'd be all for it.

As for PF, he's on his 3rd coach in as many years, with two walking out. Not a good state of affairs.

Every time we lose, it always comes down to sack Finnigan and/or Finney or the Board. I must confess that I am slowly coming round to questioning whether Finnigan can deliver a play-off spot, which surely must be his minimum target. There is still a chance of doing this, but it will take a lot more from the team than we have had in recent games.

It makes me laugh when people suggest some local coach who could step in, presumably with less experience at this level than Finnigan or experience last tested 20 years ago.

There is then the shout for Henderson or anyone else who happens to come available on any given day, to take over. Could we afford to pay off Finnegan and also have the funds to employ the likes of Henderson?

As many have pointed out, the signings this year are unravelling fast and the team is not showing much, if any, improvement over last year.

Looking at other squads in the Championship, it is not unusual to go into the season with 5 props - we have Farnworth, Dupree, Tilleke, Baker, Nzoungou, Grady (although showing only as second row on the Widnes site) and Doro (presumaby replacing Nzoungou)). Farnworth, Doro (unlucky to be sin-binned last night) and Dupree are decent players. The problem is that it seems that Finnigan has no faith in Tilleke and won't play him; Baker's best position is at second row/loose forward and we lose his attacking play when he is a prop; and it is looking increasingly unlikely that Nzoungou will play this season - a gamble that has not paid off? I would hope that we are looking for a  prop (or two) on loan, who can offer more than Tilleke and Baker. Who knows?

Owens has been one of our better performers in recent seasons, but showed his weaknesses last night. Hopefully he can recover his form soon and maybe play Roby at full-back against Leigh; Lyons is not good enough at Championship level and never will be. How far is Craven off fitness? Maybe try Owens at stand-off as some have suggested; Smith may be past his best, but has put in some decent performances and worth his place; Fozard has has been a decent signing, but most hookers do not play 80 minutes - what has happened to Gregory and Hulme?

Another disappointing performance and result last night and this has probably taken a few thousand off the gate on Good Friday. That game, however, is a chance for one or two players to redeem themselves. I don't think many will predict a Widnes win in that game, but a good fighting performance in attack and defence, will be the least we should be hoping for.

It's frustrating. Our gates at the two home games so far have been encouraging at around 3600 without much away following. That has now been ruined and we will be back to fewer than 3000 home fans.

@grasshopper I haven’t commented on finney before but he’s not going to stand down from his position so it would have to be a complete by out by someone with big money as has been spoken about in another thread or a mass protest from supporters and someone else temporarily takes over until someone is appointed. The club only exists by having its supporters turn up and paying. It seems we have too many chiefs and not enough Indians

the board should be actively looking for an investor
