One strange thing I witnessed was 2 ladies from Widnes who I know regularly watch Widnes away from home so are big fans, loudly clapping and supporting Rochdale whilst not even acknowledging Widnes scores. Apparently it was because Freeman was playing for them. It was really bizarre.

There was definitely a lot more than 600 there, everybody was in one stand which was at least 3/4 full, and seeing as the ground holds 10,500, and the small stand behind one of the posts would only hold a 1000, I would think that the stand we were in must have held 2500, there must have been 1500 there. Probably nobody independent checks the crowd figures, especially at a friendly, so Rochdale can announce a small crowd and keep a lot more of the takings.
Don't be daft.You think Widnes would accept a figure of 600 lying down, no questions asked,if there was really 900 in the ground ? Bit early in the year for this one.

I was there and I have seen the highlight video which has clear view of the stand that was open.
I bet that stand only holds 1,200 - and was about half full. So crowd given correct. Certainly more Widnes fans than Rochdale.
Well the ground holds 10,250, so if that stand holds 1200, the terraced stand behind one of the posts is very small so must only hold 1000 which means that the other 2 stands must hold 8000 , and means they are nearly 4 times as big as the stand we were in.
