Wondering if having had a less interrupted pre-season than for 2021 a couple of warm up games might help us hit the ground running as we need to? Not heard anything on this and the rumour mill seems to be quiet!

Not a big fan to be honest. Start with injuries and it's hard to catch up. According to the odd interview Finnigan likes full on training and that can be hard enough.

Surly lessons where learnt by not having friendlies, fail to prepare prepare to fail.
We need a warm up game or two
could play the loser dire for start
Not one for pre season friendlies either, losing players to injuries before the season has even started.Last season we played West Wales in the challenge cup which was a walk over so that sort of took the place of friendly game but not sure when the cup games will be scheduled next season.Perhaps another training session v Wire behind closed doors.
If we could make a few quid for a game against Wire or Saints, I think we should do it.
Other than that, not a huge fan of friendlies; remember 2009 when we had awful results in friendlies and lost the first game of the season, getting McCormack sacked...
Looking at the squad atm we probably have enough to go back to the old Possibles v Probables!!
When we had a few brothers playing against each other there was certainly a chance of injuries, no quarter asked or given!!!!
@cj91 We need to do away with the "match fit" saying if that is the case.
Not massive on friendlies myself, but I think based on last year - it would be sensible to have 1 or 2.
A full-time squad probably doesn’t need them but IMHO a part-time squad in a contact sports needs preseason friendlies.
Of course there is a risk of injuries, but they can also happen in training games too.
Batley at home on 16th Jan is our only friendly.
Craven’s testimonial too
Bit underwhelmed by that to be honest. Not a massive fan of teams in the same league playing each other in friendlies. Perhaps a sign of how far we've fallen that we can't even attract friendlies with Wire or Saints? Even if it was their second string.

First thing I thought of too, presumably no SL team wanted to play us.
Feel sorry for Craven too, can’t see there be many more than a 1,000.
Agree with the above posts, there weren’t many more than 1,000 at some of the league games last season so to expect people to go to a game v Batley in deepest darkest January slap bang between the middle of two pay days in the freezing cold with zero away support - be lucky to get 500 there.
