52': Try Oldham. The hosts get their first points of the afternoon, as Jimmy Beckett breaks the tackle of Kenny Baker to touch down. Dan Abram converts. (6-28)
Scoreline exceeding my expectations today. Excellent stuff.
61': A lovely move from right-to-left ends with Lyons, now on the field at full-back, to find space and feed Johnson for his second!
(6-32)
72': Today's attendance is announced as 1,726. An outstanding turnout from our travelling support today, thank you once again. It doesn't go unnoticed. (6-32)
74': @sam_wilde & @dannycraven21, you know the rest...
Wildey hits a short pass at the line and breaks a tackle to go over!
(6-36)
FT 6-36

and rightly so...
Tougher games ahead , but a decent start.
The Vicar
Can't ask for much more than that 1st game...
First win under the belt is always a good start. Good for morale, good for confidence, good for fans.
Can’t argue with that for a new, part time team with a new coach.
Still can’t believe we’ve got Smith and Tomkins. Exactly what we need.
Look to have found a couple of decent lads in Baker and Dwyer. Hopefully can find another forward to help them out
Roll on next week.
I thought our intensity came and went as it was obvious which way it would go. Also thought our spine in the first half were great, can't remember when we last had three, four playmakers. Spedding looked very dangerous today.

We played very well today, with Tompkins and Smith standing out, and Grady played well when he came on in his first game back. I thought there were a lot more widnes fans there than Oldham. Thought we were going to take our foot off the gas when where 28-0 up, then let them score, but to their credit they came back again.
Play like this next week and we should beat Batley comfortably .

A very decent outing today. The narrowness of the pitch didn't help our more expansive game, although we did get some joy on the outside when we were able to move the ball there quickly. I am assuming we are basing our game on having quick rather than big and powerful forwards and the pitch didn't really help us there. With the exception of Grady nobody powered over and Oldham coped with us near the line pretty well.
Great to see Smith, Owens, Craven and Tomkins strutting their stuff and Lyons did well also (to be fair everyone played their part).
Hopefully we will be able to cash in well at the Halton Stadium with a firm ground and more room to move the ball about! As has been said, great turnout to what is a neat little stadium (even If the pitch is on the small side!)
Smith and Tomkins looked a class above the rest which indeed they should do against limited opposition. Come the games v Leigh, Toulouse etc they still will be. Add in Craven Owens one two more the basis is there but the rest will have to match that standard...………...time will tell......only takes a couple to mess up and a defeat will be the result. Consistency is the key-no good having a good game then a nightmare, to get into top 5 there must be no or one or two at worse of the like Dewsbury(H) Batley (A) etc etc of last season.
