Maizen would have just caught his flight home anyway,no matter what stance the club took.
The lads on the Widnes podcast made the point (or at least alluded to it) that the club paid Maizen throughout the winter months only for him to walk out on us ten days before the season opener. You don’t have to be a cynic to think that stinks.
Yeah funny took the money and then once going to play decided to jump ship. Who knows other than himself and the people at the club. Personally i prefer him to have gone in September once the season was over. It would be better if contracts done once the first game starts and finishes in an ideal world for our club.
I believe maizen knew exactly what he was doing. If we don’t replace him I feel ozzy Mac will look elsewhere as he can see we have no money or ambitions for the foreseeable. It’s a sad case of affairs being a widnes fan atm because we are simply making up the numbers.
@mckviking interestingly I’ve noticed mcwhirter looking disinterested or miserable for a better word in any footage I’ve seen of him attending things and on social media when the club post stuff.
hopefully it’s nothing but this is what happens with Aussies when they’re on their own
