@great-dane probably the plan the whole time ....spin out the old "were looking " .."were talking to " sound bytes and then just say we tried and carry on with Fleming .....not really a shock if that ends up the case we've got form for doing it ....

I agree completely that we’ve got form for this and that Coleman’s talk was trying to reassure fans that the club is being proactive in the transfer market. However to strongly indicate, as Coleman did, that an important and exciting signing was imminent when it clearly wasn’t is a lousy trick to pull on supporters who are desperate for any fragment of optimism.
@great-dane sad thing is if it was that close a week ago and they'd hoped it was announced before the game it all but confirms if this person even exists that they've either turned us down (maybe McGowan) or their needing convincing to play for us which is a massive red flag in my books
