Looking at last seasons ratings :
salfraud 13.97
toulouse 13.58
london 12.65
york 12.42
widnes 8.6
obviously salfraud will lose a lot of points because of their financial problems and league position
Toulouse about the same or small gain
london about the same or small loss
york probably a big gain
widnes - massive gain, probably plus 3 but not enough
my thoughts are that the new extra 2 teams by the ‘independent panel’ is designed to keep teams out not letting them in.
if you have a system where all teams strive to get the points to reach the hallowed ground - fair enough, but then you say the extra 2 are decided by this panel - what are they basing it on ?
the ratings already take in support, facilities, finance and location - so what is the X factor ?
I think they already have an indication of where the ratings are going and they want to keep the likes of fev and Widnes out as they are will keep the game in the same small area
i think York and Toulouse will be in the 12 and then ….
salfraud down with us and the panel pick 2 - prob bradfraud and London ?
which makes a mockery of the whole system
Dare I say it - Brown envelopes.
No need for envelopes it's openly done.Dare I say it - Brown envelopes.
If you can raise £300k and then start again why would you need envelopes? The IMG fiasco has already blown itself up, many clubs in the Championship never report their attendance figures but they will, of course, be available to take up any slack if required.
The game as a major UK sport is a non-starter , superseded by women's soccer and women's Union organised by efficient operators.
Our sport is a minority small time game run from a small room in a Yorkshire pub.
Also what about the league(s ) below?
a maximum of 21 teams, but with major questions about the viability of worky,Whitehaven,Newcastle and midlands could be a lot less.
say 21 teams - not enough for 2 leagues so how about play each other once and top 5 playoff
appreciate home is difficult to decide but why not top team remaining plays 2 at home,3 away, 4 at home and so on.
obviously advantage to top team but only marginal.
if they go to east/ west our crowds would be even more reduced and the other side would probably increase.
yhoughts ?
