Why should it bother you Eddie. I go the longhouse before the game and if I meet an old friend I talk to him/her about rugby, if it’s of interest I can help other supporters/people on here.  I also met Mick George and Spudman and guess what we talked about but theirs was mainly rumours so as I don’t spread rumours I didn’t impart that. I’m sure if you met my friend and asked him a question he would answer honestly. 👍👍

Not really sure what the latest comments made are relevant to IMG

but for what’s worth, unfortunately that is the way we have to go - yes a bunch of crap

I am not pushing for us to get in SL just want a team that competes in the league we are in, enjoy a good game of rugby, which has actually happened recently

prefer to be a big fish in a small pond than a small fish in a big pond - can you imagine being a Huddersfield fan for the last 25 years - won anything ?
loss percentage must be massive, they finished bottom of SL for years before promotion / licensing changed

or did they win the Yorkshire cup

😀😀😀

Not sure with our last few league positions we can be classed as a big fish in a small pond

@ditton-donkey sorry, it certainly reads that was implied, fair enough if it wasn't

All this talk about the game format etc started me thinking and one thing that I remember immediately post war 2 was a game being played at Canal St I think. I can certainly remember my dad discussing that there was going to be a game, teams chosen 'as available', but that McCue was playing!!!!

That was all the advertising needed!

The fact that they had seen virtually no organised RL for years was all the encouragement they needed, and we complain about advertisements!

I wasn't considered old enough to go to the game!!!

Love it SG. I remember the A and B motors cup friendly (😂😂) against Leigh in the 60’s, it was warm up game and the place was packed after a very long off season. Can’t beat the first game of a new season, hopes were always high 👍👍

Interesting read all these comments, I will be just happy if my team are coached well, and play as a team for each other. Next season we need durable halfbacks and in the pivotal positions. Fozard is an example of durability and that is why one of the best players this season. Craven I rate but I do wonder if will stay on the pitch most of the season. I love to be in Superleague, but I feel will need some big investors to give it a decent shot like Leigh have done. Looking forward to the game on Sunday and see you all in the Longhouse bar 😂💪🍺

What's a good SL ever going to look like? Wigan and Saints and Leeds. And maybe some spendthrift no-marks like the Wire. Boring. 27 years of SL and there's been 4 winners. Wow, how exciting. I hope Catalans do it this year but, you know.

Rugby was miles better before the rules, even when Wigan dominated. The standard was much better than it is now.

We should have formed a semi-pro league with the Championship teams, League 1 and the likes of Wakefield, Salford and Castleford, who also don't fit the IMG profile. Leave the other beauts to their money and their predictability. I reckon they'd come crawling back eventually.

@gpo1971

The semi-pro game broke because Wigan went into contracts etc - full time, and Lindsay wanted to keep it that way.

The semi-pro league has to be policed to ensure that it remained semi pro and everyone had a job. Can't see why Aussies etc couldn't play in our league as long as they had jobs here.

The problem is that it would need managing and supervising, or clubs had to be honest!!!!

I'd say Widnes are about 21st choice as preference for a Super League place.Behind the current 12 plus Bradford,Toulouse,Newcastle,York,London,Cumbria club,Welsh club and Sheffield.In fact you could close your eyes and stick a pin in a map of the UK and most any location would be preferred to Widnes.We won't return until the game reverts back to its natural level of semi professional with  two up and two down promotion/ relegation.

@sinbad

I would argue with that view tbh.

If you look outside the game this country, among others, has real practical problems to resolve that will demand a great deal from the public generally, including RL supporters.

God knows what IMG will do about that (and he's not telling)!!!

If we can watch evenly matched games and win our share, or better, I shall be happy!!!
