haven game

The warning signs were there again in the first half. Completely outplayed & overpowered by a team that will likely be relegated along with Oldham. We have been very slow to start in most of our games this season & this needs to change fast. The game changed when Owens went to half back & when Farnworth came on. I would keep Owens at 6 until Craven returns. I can see why Lyons got MOM with 2 tries & an assist for Wilde at a crucial point in the game. If Whitehaven had not been so undisciplined it could have been much tougher. I thought Owens or Tomkins could easily have been chosen MOM. Tomkins never stopped & must have been top tackler by a mile.

Disappointing first half. Improvement in the second, but can't disguise the poor display. Lucky they got tired.

Indisciplined? We only had 2 more penalties than they did and both teams made the same errors so hardly indisciplined

Agree the crowd was disappointing but has to be a chance that a percentage of our fan base decided not to come to the game due to the Coronavirus situation. Hard to guess how many but some will have been put off. Be interesting to see how crowds elsewhere held up this weekend.

Crowd on balance disappointing, but I think we perhaps need to accept that the floating fans will not be overly enthused by a mid-table Champ team and the London and Dewsbury matches will have had an effect. If you look at 2010, for example, crowds were pretty similar to today.

600 down is huge.I was expecting a lower gate after two defeats, perhaps 250 or so but not as much as 600.Really disheartening.

We know that it is far easier to lose numbers from the crowd than to gain them, particularly as we were so outclassed by London. Key for us this year is to secure wins in our home games and pick up anything we can away from home! OK one already lost and a few less than confident wins, but we had a really decent 30 minutes in the second half so that will have given everyone a confidence boost despite our misgivings about the first half. Surely Mr Sheens is using his contacts in Australia and New Zealand to find a couple of big props from the various below 1st grade leagues?

Agree about it being disheartening, but I just feel like there isn't a great deal of excitement watching us at the minute, in terms of we don't really look like we are going to go up this year and we shouldn't be in a relegation battle so it is a harder sell to the casual fan.

Seems like the apathy on this board is reflected across the fan base...

Im not sure what people expect though, we have a board that is solely reliant on the fan base for money, £300,00 and counting so far from VIQI, that would only get you two real quality players these days and its not going to get any better in the future IMO unless we get capital investment from an external source

I think we will just muddle through the season and with a bit of luck the coach will have a say in next years recruitment rather than having to work with what hes been given and the current restrictions

Owens was halfback from the start of the game. Was you asleep Geoff?

Very disappointing attendance. Need to get more to the games and make it more of an event then we are doing at the moment. All the social media stuff is really positive and then you get to the games and it’s so subdued. Having said that we have had home games v Batley, Oldham and Whitehaven which are hard to get excited about. The London game I was personally a lot more interested in, but then we just didn’t show up. That never helps attendances and we played abysmal at Dewsbury too.

A lot to improve on and off the pitch.

MOM for me was Lyons today with Cross who looks a top winger, Farnworth and Baker the other best performers.

For all it was a poor attendance, it was still the 2nd highest in the League, only 118 fewer than Leigh who have started well and were playing Halifax, who I would presume brought more than Haven (who supported their team well I thought). Better than top of the League Toulouse, Bradford and Featherstone.

Our fanbase is our biggest asset...despite the inconsistent start and flatness.

Bradford don't play in Bradford anymore so that skews their gates.
