Looking at ways to change direction and flow of club saw that Bradford city who were struggling at the time halved their season tickets to get people in to the stadium, buy merchandise etc and to get a feel good factor about the day , now they almost selling out weekly which generates huge revenue for the club
if we lowered our season tickets to get lapsed supporters back into the stadium maybe (if Andrew came back on board) the board could cover the loss ? I mean we only sell a 1000 season tickets what would it cost them to create interest to 1500/2000 sold
just a idea as we can't outspend others looking at ways to get people in stadium
If you got another 1000 in stadium and they buy a golden gamble or you drop season tickets price but joined it up with membership of VIPs you surely wouldn't lose out ?
Its good to think of ideas but I just dont think people are interested in watching Championship rugby. Messing about with the fixtures, not playing everyone, playing league 1 teams like Midlands and Crusaders. Knowing even if we win it, no chance of going up. Thats such a difficult sell for anyone.
Going forward, it'd be nice to be able to watch an occasional game. I have a season ticket and, at the moment, I don't feel like Widnes rugby is even part of my life. Whoever came up with this fixture list wants shooting. How can you possibly keep people interested when it's like this?

Oh for the days when it was a home game away then home etc for most of the season. You do lose interest not playing at home for what seems like ages...wait ..it is ages
Vikings Fox I think the club are fighting a battle especially with the RFL and the fixtures forecast. Personally I think the club are doing there best with the resources and are willing to listen to ideas unlike previous owners. We could have done with these people in Super League. It is definitely hard to sell when there is no promotion and relegation by winning a Grand Final. It is fixed already for London to go up and in a selfish way I would like a few teams to go bust in Super League and are fed up of pumping money in every year to stay sustainable. I think Alan is doing a great job apart from his half back scenario by not replacing Abdull, but we all know a running half back is best with Gilmore.
I do not go many games but do my part buying merchandise and joining WVIPs. It is basically the die hards at the moment, but if we play exciting rugby and involved in the community then that is the best we can do until the goal posts are changed. The half season ticket to pick the games and the season tickets are probably the best way to support the club. Halving the cost of season tickets I can not see lots of people taking it up mate, but I am all for ideas for sure. My brother struggles to go with a freebie, as he a big game and Super League fan unfortunately.
Whatever we do will cost money, sadly at the moment we have not got
if the club wants to survive we need to look forward 15 years
give free tickets to junior schools ( adult has to pay)
development officer visit junior schools regularly and senior schools
Development teams at various age groups
we cannot control what the RFL imposes on us - stupid fixture list, salary cap etc
I know we are doing a lot of this, but it is the only way forward otherwise as the sage paulie walnuts said - we may not be here to celebrate our 160th birthday
onwards and upwards
@7-vikingnomad it's so sad we all feel the same way!! I watched Huddersfield today and to be honest they are sleepwalking into the championship and won't return the standard of the bottom 4/5 in super league is dreadful
The Huddersfield situation has played right into the RFL's hands. No stadium, playing at Dewsbury. Lucky to get 4,000 fans to a game and a terrible team, bottom of the league. London will finish first, Huddersfield will finish bottom. So to swap them over no one can argue, making project get London in SL very easy.
@dan1 take the sky money off Huddersfield and they are the next Salford he's already propping them up with money when they have sky funding!!
