Ged Smith who played over 70 games for Widnes between 1962 & 1965 has died. After he left Widnes he went on to play for Oldham.

RIP Ged.

Back "in the day", I used to play RU with Ged for Wade Deacon GS on a Saturday morning followed by RL for St Ambrose in the afternoon.

We had some good days together, Ged, thanks.

I think it is remissive of the club not to have posted on the Vikings web site about this yet as at Wednesday 10 September.

I meant remiss not remissive.

@prisoner It has not been posted on the Official Widnes Vikings News site though. Not everyone sees Facebook.

@geoffw If you are able to see the website then you are able to see facebook.

@prisoner  Like @geoffw says not everyone wants to be on Facebook so unless you are signed up to Facebook you can't view it via the website. As far as I know anyway.

More people may well view the clubs info on Facebook than on the club website but it wouldn't take much effort to put it on both.

I also played RU with Ged for Wade Deacon and RL for St Ambrose.

A sad loss.
