Fev team

Aekins and Wynne late injury absentees for Fev meaning lots of players playing out of position...a wing at full back, a hooker Jones) at centre, a middle at half back, and a back row/centre on the wing.

It's a huge Fev pack today, not sure a warm day on a plastic pitch is ideal but we'll see.

To be fair Eden has played a lot at FB over the years not like he’s not experienced there. And Addy has played half again a fair bit

Foz being 18th man is disappointing as we’ll be a lot slower out the PTB the whole game for Johnson and if someone like owens fills in to give him a break

hope it’s nothing serious if it’s a knock

Ok another day we’re 3/4 tries up here. Frustrating drops and silly mistakes, however that is professional sport. To not get any points while they’re down to 12 is always criminal in my opinion

important second half incoming

An odd game.

Not sure you’ll see an uglier win than that for Featherstone. They offered absolutely nothing in attack. Didn’t even half a chance. But credit to their defence; well drilled, slowed it down and frustrated us.

It’s hard to be too critical to us. We created chances- had 3 disallowed first half and Butt dropped one with the line begging. We just couldn’t finish the chances off.

Big game against Sheffield in two weeks

Listening on the radio sounded like we just didn’t have a clue how to finish our chances on their line

Very frustrating listen - fev came to do a job, slow down the game at every opportunity but at the end of they day they scored a try and we didnt

fozzard a massive miss

I thought we were quite poor in attack and definitely missed the impact of Fozard. Featherstone defended well but so did we- I do feel if the intercept try for us had been allowed (which it should have been) we win.

It was like the Rugby League equivalent of losing 1-0 to a Tony Pulis Stoke team from a lucky deflection.

As an aside, not overly sure about this 6 again rule, the ref gave us at least 3 within the Featherstone 20- not saying we would have kicked at goal but in an attacking position I think you should be given the option.

Also, crowd was 5-600 down on what I thought- fewer Featherstone fans and certainly fewer home fans. With all the problems at Whitehaven, collectively thinking has to be done to attract more back to Championship matches.

1-13 not there today I’d probably say worst performance of the season attack wise we just offered nothing and was flat and standing still no support or players running in pairs and definitely blew our chances on the line. However I’ve never seen a slower game in my life fev absolutely bored us to death and took any momentum out of the game not one quick ptb and don’t get me started on that yellow card… however this means more then ever we need to beat sheff at home.

Pretty accurately summed up in the above posts. In fairness we bombed enough chances to win two games, mainly through lacking composure with the last pass to our wingers. The Fleming 'try' that was pulled back and then we are given the head and feed on our 10m line was a shocker. Ince was also about to score when the Ref deemed crossing was also a poor call. I sit very close to the coaching team on the back row of the stand and they were blazing over those two calls and the Springer sin-binning (his 1st). AC wanted a straight red for contact to the head. We are not cute enough. If our player stays down, Springer gets a Red. Don't deem it cheating, if it was at Post Office Rd, Fev would have 'milked it'.

It just wasn't our day, it happens.

@pauliewalnuts

It wasn't just AC calling for a red card for Springer's straight hit on Fleming's head - it was the whole of the Widnes crowd plus all of the neutral watchers except the referee. And I trust the RFL disciplinary panel should they look at a replay of the incident.

How come Springer was also only yellow carded for foul play in the last seconds of the game. Doesn't 2 yellows equal one Red? I don't know.

Reynolds and Bussey lived offside all of the game, the latter also committing 3 fouls for violent play in the first 10 mins.

Another poorly refereed game to our disadvantage. The chants of "you don't know what you're doing" being justified.

The referee was poor, but it was our lack of being able to get over the line that lost us the match.

Featherstone's tactics didn't make it an exciting game to watch, and I thought it was a reasonable attendance bearing in mind it was a hot, sunny day in the middle of the holiday season.

Thought Fev got their tactics spot on today, aided by poor execution from us and probably deserved the victory. I can't believe that anyone would be blaming the official for us losing the game.
