Connolly gone on loan

We’ve let him go to Salford on loan. Very strange because Coleman said on Monday he was going to play him full back on Sunday.

Thought it would have been a good opportunity for him to see what he wa. Like

Wrong player Nathan Connell will be playing fullback.

Absolutely ridiculous (again) perfect game to play him at the weekend - who have we got at fullback now , surely not jack

vikingfox should do the lottery - he predicted this move back on the seventeenth of jan !
so salfraud now have 2 of our players on loan, both of, only signed in close season and neither have played a competitive game for us, sounds like Groundhog Day

I wouldn't be loaning players for cup games as don't they get cup tied? Unlikely for a run given its Leeds next, however we should be playing safe for player availability

Surely not for cup games?

As you say, they'd be cup-tied, and unable / ineligible to play for you in future rounds, would they not?

It seems a daft move on the Chemics' part in my opinion.

Spelly.

@7-vikingnomad yeah he's already said connell will be starting even if we bring another FB in ...don't think the gaffer will make loads of changes from last week ... potential banana skin are thatto .... probably see likes of Connell.. Houghton..Taylor ..hall..maybe langtree and sergent if their fit ...think he'll go as strong as possible within reason...they played Halifax last year and we're a proper handful 1st half , with Leeds on the horizon I don't think too many changes is wise ..well covered atm

Can’t disagree. Recruiting players to send them straight out on loan to give struggling clubs a leg up is ridiculous in our situation.

He's 18 years old and signed from the amateur game as one for the future. Because rugby league as a sport is broken we have no reserves or proper academy (not the clubs fault just not enough money in RL)  so its exactly the right thing to loan him to Salford. Otherwise how will he develop training 2 nights a week and not playing.

I was worried with no League One this season how we would get squad players game time so Salford being local and not having enough players given their situation is actually a bonus for us.

An idea could be to get a Widnes amateur team into the NCL, get them up to premier division level and then Widnes squad numbers say 21 - 27 could play for them if not selected for the 1st team. Without a reserve side, if its allowed within the rules that would be a good way to keep the squad players ticking over.

Great idea something for Paulie to mention to the club or if already in the process.

It would be a good idea, but I don't think players from the 'pro/semi pro' game are allowed to play BARLA RL. Years ago you would have to get a licence to play amateur if you were a Pro.

I think the Club see the Viking Development Squad as their link with the amateur game, hopefully bringing our own through, but until they are signed, they still play with their Community Clubs.

I can ask the question, by all means.

Paulie xx
