Who is the money man behind Featherstone?

Think it's mark Campbell isn't it? Maybe assisted with some other money man.

Mark Campbell has put a lot of money into Fev over the last 15 years, but he has said on more than one occasion in the last couple of years that the club is now self-financing.

I can’t see that on crowds of 2,000

🤣🤣🤣

Just goes to show how much you know.

Their main sponsor is a global plastics manufacturer and they have revenue streams other than the rugby team.

Unlike Widnes who couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery..

They must be very good sponsors if they’re putting enough money into the club to buy all the top players they’ve signed so far and pay their wages as well.

What don't you understand about revenue streams?

They don't just make money off season tickets and merchandise.

They have other revenue streams that make £££££££.

"buy the players and pay their wages as well" it's like the Bosman ruling never happened!

As has been stated, the crowds aren't especially relevant (though they are up significantly this year, with the club stating they think they can exceed the 4,500 crowd they had for the Leigh home game for the Widnes game next Sunday) .The club has over £250k in sponsorship alone this year and numerous other income streams.

@lord-lucan I think a lot of it is jealousy because a so called small club like Featherstone continually out performs a so called bigger club like Widnes, in this league.Year in year, year out.

At the end of the day all we can really do is support our club through good times and bad, I do think as a supporter of a different club that some of the criticisms of Widnes on this board seem very harsh given we know it was mismanagement by previous administrations that got the club into its current situation. Am sure Widnes can regain some of its former status but in the absence of a big financial input it's likely to take plenty of time you'd think?

I think that there is a hint of jealousy from Widnes fans at the ability of a small club like Featherstone to bring in some quality players, due to they being able to attract the backing of wealthy sponsors. I am not sure whether they own their own ground, but if they do, that may also place them in a better position than Widnes.

Will this enable them to get promotion to SL this year? In my view, Leigh have a stronger team and more likely to be promoted in 2022. Maybe 2023 will be Featherstone’s year? Who knows what the SL structure will be in 2023 and what other Championship teams may be on the rise?

It is ironic that they have also managed to attract a coach who does not support small clubs in SL. Perhaps McDermott is dreaming of a future merger with Castleford and Wakefield to create a strong West Yorkshire team in SL!

As to Featherstone continually out-performing Widnes at this level, the facts do not wholly support this. In 2017, we beat Featherstone 58-10 in the SL Qualifiers; in 2019, we beat them 44-22 at home and lost 22-8 away and finished 6 points and 3 places below them in the league (ignoring the 12 point deduction); in 2021 they did out-perform us, beating us 38-8 and finishing well above us in the league.

You never know, just like Wire, 2023 may be our year with the club attracting a wealthy sponsor, allowing us to compete in signing quality players and, as some would wish, a more expensive and better coach. Although I guess this would not stop the critics on here of demanding even more!

Featherstone have been consistently a good Championship team since 2010. They haven't finished lower than 5th in that period.

From our point of view, we need to be matching the likes of Halifax, Bradford and Batley over a season before thinking about how to bridge the gap to Featherstone, Leigh or Toulouse (if they come back down).

Iirc Saints owner did some financial re-organisation to secure their backing, some sort of  trust fund I think. Looking at Saints atm they look like being on top for some years, staffed by Widnes lads!!!

That is the way to progress and build rather than the annual juggling.

I'm sure some financial genius Widnes supporter could find out how it was done?

Frank, you don't want to go back through all the seasons from 1996 when both clubs were omitted from Super League and compare Widnes v Featherstone results at Championship level.Trust me.
