The Aussies suggesting 4 new rules for next season . What do you think of them?
1 Kick off
Conceding team chooses wether to kick off or receive after a try
2 6 player bench
Six on the bench, but you can only play 4
3 Dropped try attempts
No 7 tackle set for dropped ball in act of scoring
4 Six again adjustment
Six again restarts apply outside attacking 20 metre zone
Don’t like the idea of 1 and 3. Not so fussed over 2 and 4
Here we go again, more tinkering at the edges.
Can't the game just be left alone without this constant fiddling that does nothing for the sport.
They are gimmicks it can do without.
Under the current regime, we are currently watching everything that was good about the game being stripped away in the hope of achieving what exactly?
The Sport continues to stumble from one crisis to another as it has done for the last however many years and for me, deserves exactly what it is getting - less money, less prestige and even more of a laughing stock than it currently is.
Such a shame.
What is the point of these changes? Will they improve the game in any way?
1. Won't the scoring team always choose to receive? Why not simply leave it one or the other?
2. We sometimes struggle to get a squad of 17 fit players!
3. There will be on filed arguments and delay in reviews to determine whether or not ball was lost in the act of scoring.
4, Again arguments and delays to determine whether tackle was inside or outside the 20m line.
Can we have one season with no tinkering with the rules.
No point in any of them
The game needs to stop tinkering around the edges and give up on these ridiculous gimmicks.
Can nobody in charge see this?
The one thing that made the game of RL great was its simplicity and honesty.
Now we have neither.
The more things get tweaked the further away from reality the game becomes.
I long for the days when the game lived within its means and understood its place in the sporting pecking order. It filled Wembley every year, had a plethora of sponsored cup competitions to choose from, but more importantly, it had a product (and players) that entertained the public.
Compare that to today's modern day nonsense.
And breathe..........
To be fair, these are proposed NRL changes. Their game is nothing like ours. It's exciting, successful, lucrative, innovative, all kinds of positive adjectives that don't apply to SL. If we don't want to, we don't have to make these changes over here.
More often than not, when they propose a change, we decry it. But it tends to enhance their game. Maybe not ours but then we do 5 charges up the middle and a cross-field kick. It's hard to improve on that with limited skillset.
