I don’t dispute that but accepting a place with far less funding than the other clubs would have led to relegation and probably further financial problems. We need to be aiming to do it on the pitch and then if we do make it we should at least be entitled to a share of central funding that gives us a fighting chance of not going straight back down.

As a sporting team you should aim to play in the highest league possible, accepting anything less and you may as well not bother

Applying to join a league isn't exactly sport though.Through promotion on the field yes I agree.

Yep agreed, everything about that process was wrong.  At the time I was disappointed with the club that we didn't try, and also when the academy was binned.  In hindsight both were the right decisions.  If promotion is available through on the field results I hope we go for it 100%

Spot on Promotion through being the best team in the league is what it’s about for fans - people who love the game and their sport.

The real sadness is that - bottom line - the members of the RFL  and certainly Sky sports see the game as a means to make money rather than as a sport.

I think someone wrote on one of the earlier versions of this board that you can only sell the family jewels once and that was certainly true of the RFLs decision to go professional and take Sky’s shilling.

Duffy Did a good job at Leigh but when they were granted a spot in Sl with a Good Championship team then it was going to take an amazing turn of results for him to see the end of the season.

Their struggles this season are not a real reflection on what he has done as a coach so far. Cant think of many coaches that would have done much with that Leigh Team.
