@viking25 Would just rather we spend all available resources on the 1st team. Whilst an academy is great in the long term I just feel we can ill afford to fall further behind.
Depends how the IMG/RFL are looking into the future. If the Academies were fully funded by the League it would make sense as a real effort to popularise the game and encourage new talent on a wide front. A s an 'add-on' they could cut the number of NRL recruits to encourage the use and development of our own!
The SL clubs wouldn't like it of course but it depends from which end of the game IMG are looking.

Didn't the RFL grant academy licence’s until 2027? I don’t think any other club can play in the system until then?

You can run a Category C academy which is what Salford did this year and other clubs have done too - this just links in with the local college. Salford U16s were given 4 fixtures this year when all top end 16s (Cat A & B) were given 8. It didn't help them to be honest as they just lost the good players to other scholarships after their 4th game (Keiron Purtil's lad being one of them signing for Leeds).
I wondered why we didn't downgrade originally to a Cat C academy at the time and reduce resources and budgets. These are largely run by volunteers and college staff and provide an excellent opportunity for young lads to progress if they really want to. There are plenty of people that would be willing to help, and this upskills your community coaches as well.

Cynic in me remembers the SL coach, aka Denis, announcement and fears that it will be a couple of ex players resigned. Happy to be incorrect.
I doubt we are going full time as a squad but maybe a few key players will be, I can see both sides of the argument regarding academy but it could be one of the criteria that IMG are looking at
It would not surprise me if after all this build up, it will end up a disappointment to the people on here. To be honest we just want a competitive first team, as that is who most of us watch. 😂👍🥖🥖🥖

There was a big build up to it, and there was a lot of speculation as to who we would be signing or more money coming into the club, and then during the half time interval there was a on field announcement that they were changing the name of the season ticket and how you would buy it!!
