According to a couple of 'sites I've seen, Webster is out at Fev with immediate effect, and is being replaced by ...........

Brian McDermott!

Comments please!

If true can't see much more Webster could have done v the Toulouse squad, won the 1895 too.

That being said, McDermott may be able to get the job done over Leigh given his track record.

Isn't Featherstone exactly the type of small town club that McDermott said had no place in the future of SL?

The man would be a hypocrite to take over Featherstone. He could do a good job, but he did manage to steer Oldham into League 1!!

In my biased opinion, he seems to be following the career path of Denis Betts.

Both great RL players, would-be tv commentators and (so far) poor coaches who rely on their undoubted past playing skills to open doors into a coaching role.

From the widely condemned and reported apparently total mess that he left at Leeds, loss of culture etc I can't see what he will bring to the table tbh.

Maybe a bit simplistic but against Toulouse Fev's game seemed to fall back on the old 'see if we can start a fight' logic. Not what was needed in SL.

There may be an improvement in standards next season to a more creative game with Newcastle, Leigh and us, carrying some SL aims and historical experience.

I am biased of course but on occasion we did show real creativity, limited by our failure to control the middle ground. We do need that additional grunt!

McDermott won SL grand finals, challenge cups and world club championship with Leeds.Hardly comparable with Betts.

I see Ian Henderson has left Warrington to take over as head coach of Keighley.Be interesting to keep an eye on both Widnes and Keighley performances next year.

Super League (4): 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017
League Leaders' Shield (1): 2015
Challenge Cup (2): 2014, 2015
World Club Challenge: 2012.

Hardly a Betty carer but the guy is a complete and utter arse hole and hypocrite who did say what Frank posted.

Talking of Betts, why hasn't he gone on to a big club role yet, seeing as he was so highly rated within the game ? So we were told.

Perhaps aiming to steer Newcastle into SL, together with O'Carroll.

Hogan is ploughing big money into Newcastle and DB has RU experience too. He will be on very comfortable contract so why would he move?

They will have a pretty formidable side this year and DB is not the coach, who might be sacked if it doesn't work!

So he's turned down Wigan ,Warrington, Leeds and Saints to stay at Newcastle. Ok.

If his pay is good and he hasn't got any pressure why would he change?

It's a job, just a job!

It’s odd to see a coach leave a club that has done at least as well as could be reasonably expected this season. Beaten only by Toulouse in the Championship and won the 1895 Cup.

According to the press release, it’s Webster who has left, rather than him being sacked. He wanted to coach in SL

Read the Fev post again!

He didn't want to coach SL as he has started a course at Leeds Uni (presumably a degree?) and wants to devote his time to that. He has his eye on the future somewhere.

Mark Carter realised that his mind was elsewhere and looked for a new Coach.
