I noticed that Lewis Else and Jayden Hatton weren't in your squad, spelly, were they injured or just not selected?

Just not selected as far as I know mate.

Spelly.

Summat on our 'site today says that Lewis' work patterns have changed, making it difficult to attend training sessions, meaning he's unlikely to be selected in the near future, but......,

His registration is being retained, and should the current scenario alter, we may well see him in a Lions' shirt again.

Well, I think it's the first time that I've put a B postcode in my sat-nav when heading for a Lions' game!

Midlands Hurricanes away, and from what I've read, the venue is not quite Wembley-esque!

Found somewhere to get a nosh that's about a ten minute walk from the venue.

Hopefully, come 4.45pm, we'll (still) be table toppers!

Come on you Lions!

Hurricanes 16-54 Lions this aft, a(nother) comfortable victory for us, and we're (still) top of the league.

Jayden Hatton back in the team, and helped himself to a brace, with Dan Abram banging over nine from nine record with the boot.

We're not kidding ourselves, coz the P2, W2 record we have, is P2 of the weaker teams, W2.

Donny away next week will be a lot more difficult, but hopefully in seven days' time, I'll be reporting on another win.

Good luck tomorrow, but it won't be easy.

Off on our travels again tomorrow, and we're heading to the Keepmoat (or whatever it's called these days) Stadium, to play by Donny.

The bookies have given 'em a 20 start, which I would imagine is a compliment to us but.......

Our record there is not great, and I'll settle for any sort of win to maintain our record.

The Crusaders (who we host on Easter Sunday) won down the Smoke today, meaning they're now on P3, W3, so if we can pull it off tomorrow, we can return to the top of the table.

Report here to follow.

COME ON YOU LIONS!

Donny 20-64 Lions this aft, and a(nother) comfortable win for us, to remain top of the table.

The game was done and dusted before the interval, and their case wasn't helped at all by a red card on about the 20 minute mark.

It happened after we'd scored, and their guys were behind the posts awaiting the con, when (presumably) the culprit uttered a colourful version of "Excuse me sir, but I don't altogether concur with that decision!"

Dan Abram banged over ten from eleven of the conversions (hitting the bar with the other) to add to his nine from nine last week, and ex-Viking Jayden Hatton touched down twice, to match his brace of last week.

I reckon we had about 150 fans there, who all went home smiling.

Summat's gotta give on Eaater Sunday, coz the Crusaders are coming to Heywood Road, and we both boast a P3, W3 league record.

They (deservedly) beat us in the Cup, so hopefully we can repay the favour next week.

So, spelly, Hatton has scored 4 tries in the last 2 games - that's why most of us were sorry he didn't stay with Widnes.

Oh, I see you are playing him in the centre, apart from him scoring tries how is he playing in that position?

When he came on as a sub at Keighley, he went on the wing, but his two starts have been in the centre, and hopefully he'll continue to be a success there for us.

Sunday will be our biggest test so far this term when Murray's Mob come a-calling.

They're on P3, W3 just like us, abd deserved winners at our gaff in the Cup a few weeks back. For the winner, it'll be a huge boost going forward.

The Cougars, 'Yeds, and 'Ornits (the latter two clash tomorrow) will all fancy being in the mix too come the business end of the season.

The return with the Crusaders is our final match of the campaign, will it be a title decider? It'd be great to go there with it all sewn up, but there's a lot of football to be played before then!

COME ON YOU LIONS!!!

Lions 6-13 Crusaders this aft, and for the second time already this term, Murray's Mob came to Heywood Road, and did the business on us,

No complaints, coz as in the cup tie, the better side won, and today their defence was just the tops.

6-0 to the visitors at the interval, we equalised, but they went in front again at 12-6, and then banged over a one pointer to seal the deal.

They are not the most spectacular team on the planet, far from it, but they do the basics well, are obviously well coached, and from what I've seen of 'em so far, they'll be pushing big style for promotion.

A(nother) trip to Keighley for us next week, and they seen to have improved hugely since we beat 'em in the friendly, so it's not gonna be a cake walk over there at Lawkholme Lane.

So we've reached the thirty year anniversary, and still nobody has owned up to why Swinton fans were poohed on from the highest of heights, by the very custodians with whom we'd entrusted our beloved club!

Every other team that has upped sticks, allowed their supporters to embrace the last match scenario, but those low lifes at the Lions saw fit to stab us in the back instead. and deny us that right!

I've said it before, I'll say it again, and I mean every word that  I HOPE THEY ROT IN HELL!!!

Hello again!

For the walk this year, Leeds have very kindly sent me a couple of things to help us raise some dosh for both Blood Cancer, and the MNDA.

If you visit the Swinton Lions Family Auction page on Facebook, there's a line raffle at a fiver a time for a Rhinos' 2022 shirt, that's been signed by the first team squad, and......

There's also some Rob Burrow RB7 badges, which if you pay a fiver into the Just Giving account below, and PM me with your address, I'll post one to you, or say if..............

You order five together to go to just one address, I'll do that for just twenty quid.

For the badges, or to make a donation to the walk, just visit...........

www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/john-spellman

Thank you in advance.

Cougars 30-0 Lions at a sunny and windy Lawkholme Lane this aft, and..............

As Bill Shankly once famously said " ----- and they were lucky to get nil!"

Keighley were unrecognisable from the team we played in the friendly, and one of their fans who I know, said to me after the game "You beating us in the friendly gave us the kick up the arse we needed." But..............

To be honest, we never looked like scoring, and being twice (deservedly) reduced to twelve, only added to the non performance the decent following we took over the hills had to endure.

After the promising start we had, albeit against not the best of opposition, today again proved that getting out of tier three at the first attempt will not be easy!

It's our free weey that's coming up, so we won't be back in action until a fortnight today, when the Skolars come to Heywood Road,

Spelly.
